successors to the malware sub7

Anyone know of any “evil intent” programs that are like sub7 which was around in the late 90’s on the internet? My friend and I were discussing the one time when he finally installed an anti-virus program and found that he had been infected with sub7 for quite some time – and when we did research on it, the things it could do were scary, yet intriguing. taking over the computer in a “matrix” like way (turning the screen black and typing), being able to browse and download any file from the infected computer, taking control of the mouse, etc. – I’m just wondering if there are any “heirs to the throne” these days… call it morbid curiosity. (I always have AVG anti-virus installed, it’s such a great program. :))

I dno’t know of any specifically but if you google on backdoor trojan you will come up with a huge list. There are people always writing these things.
