Suddenly, I am hungry

[QUOTE=Litoris]
Ahhhhhh… :smack: I was mostly confused, since we got the first 3 seconds of rain in like a brazillion years yesterday and the ground/plant life was somewhat damp. I was thinking, “wow, it must be as dry there as it is here.” I tend to over-analyse things, sorry.

Of course, this gets me thinking about what dessert I will be making for Thanksgiving this year. I refuse to do pumpkin pie, as it was my Dad’s favorite, and only makes sad now. I like to do unusual desserts – last year, it was pumpkin pie sorbet with caramel sauce. I always like to keep it within the range of “traditional” flavors – such as yam, pumpkin, cranberry, etc. Suggestions are always appreciated. Hmmmm…I just had an idea – maybe a ginger sorbet with a pumpkin-bourbon sauce? Dang, now I am planning 3 months ahead…friggin’ turkeys!

I made my late Mom’s pecan pie last year - not your traditional pecan pie. It was a HUGE hit! I don’t have the recipe at hand, I’ll try to remember later. Heck, I can’t even remember the name of it. You have a regular pie crust, sprinkle in pecans, then add a custard of some sort. The pecans float to the top and form a sweet crunchy crust. Oh yeah - Buttermilk Pecan Pie. E-mail me to remind me if I forget. :slight_smile: It’s in my profile.

Thanks, but I did a bourbon pecan pie a year or so ago. Part of my tradition is to not repeat (even as delicious as some have been – one year, I found cinnamon ice cream and served it with fried apples and caramel sauce – OMG, it was so yummy!). The pecan pie recipe I used was from our Marlboro Ranch cookbook and it was divine. I may email you sometime for the recipe, anyway, as it sounds like it might be a nice addition to xmas dinner at the in-laws :slight_smile:

Sometimes you can find wild turkeys in more urban locations.

(For dessert I recommend something with maple syrup - cheesecake sounds nice.)
