Suggest a nice little calendar/reminder program to live in the tray and remind me...

…of things, like whose turn it is to use which car today. Summer’s over, it’s back to school, there are five of us needing access to two cars, and the big “Mommy’s Calendar” hanging on the wall just ain’t up to the challenge.

Something not too expensive, or complex–just something where I can enter “every Wednesday afternoon, 2 to 4–Lab” and stuff like that.

And I’d like something that’s right there, either as an icon on the desktop, or living in the tray, not something that ends up having to be installed under a whole string of files like Programs --> Utilities–> System Tools–> Accessories–> Files --> Favorites --> Your Mother’s Maiden Name --> etc.
For Windows ME.

I use Microsoft Outlook to keep track of appointments and birthdays. I just put a shortcut to the program in the Startup folder in the Start menu, with the “Run minimized” box checked in the shortcut properties (right click on the shortcut and select properties). So when the computer starts up, Outlook automatically starts up and minimizes, and then just sits there running in the background, popping up reminders when it’s time to do things.

I would much prefer a smaller, simpler program, though, so I will watch this thread with interest.

You can use the Palm Desktop Software even if you don’t have a Palm Pilot. I have it installed but don’t acutally use it since my life is ridiculously uncomplicated. It’s free.

Ooh, neat, thanks, Gut. Because, guess what, we apparently already have it and I didn’t know it.

The Better Half has a Sony Clie, and when I mentioned something called “Palm Desktop Software” to him, knowing that “Palm” was a handheld so he must know what it meant, he tactfully drew my attention to the icon on the desktop.

Oh.

Glad I could help.

I needed an alarm clock a while back and feel fortunate to have found Chameleon Clock. I love it. This shareware not only keeps my computer clock adjusted to atomic time but reminds me about appointments.
