It’s obscure, so nobody there has heard of it, and it has anti-authoritarian themes that would probably appeal to someone in prison.

Or send her one of those thick Reader’s Digest condensed books. Hollowed out, with a file inside.

Nothing preachy - just a daily meditation and space for journalling. Might get her thinking about what got her in her present situation.

Let me assure everyone that my friend is being broadsided daily with Alcoholics Anonymus literature as well as roughly prosteletyzed to with the righteous goodness of Christianity. My goal is to help provide some small respite from her admittedly-earned suffering, not pile on with the rest of the do-gooding bullies.
