Suggestion for new business name

Oh I get that… that is why I mentioned wanting a name that did not require a lot of mental gymnastics to figure out what I do.

Playing off an incident from 2007: Please Lase Me, Bro!

ok, much pondering and soliciting of ideas from friends and other forums.

“Allure” (thank you placebo target) I am curious to hear more of what you guys like about it. I like it, but I am curious what the “allure” of the name is. I have a short list I am working from and I admit i like the “feel” of the name but i cant say i really understand the appeal. I would prefer a name with an underlying rationale I understand.

Sooner or Laser. (Optimally, you should move to Oklahoma.)

Here’s a KISS that also puts you first in any alphabetical google search:

A Cut Above

The allure of “Allure” is it’s name. It’s a good name for a lot of businesses. The name of a company doesn’t have to say what the business does. You’ll need a lot more than a name to describe this business so there’s not much point in trying to cram in those details. So while “Allure” may not be the particular name you choose it’s a good positive name that will get potential customers to look at the details. And it does sound creative and fun because it doesn’t mention lasers and tech.

ok I can understand that. I guess I am more familiar with more practical and descriptive names. If my marketing know how was gasoline I would be lucky to start a car.

The problem with “Allure” is that it is a name that can fit 95% of the businesses out there. The problem with a name like that is there is nothing in it that implies what you do. It can be a perfume, a car, a cat food, a jewelry store, a dating service etc.

Yup, I have to agree. I don’t think you should be looking for a cute punning name. You’re marketing a service that many people won’t be familiar with. Something distincive, sure, but say clearly what your company does.

So - if you like “allure”, for example, I’d be inclined to go with something like “Allure Laser Designs” or “Allure Laser Etching” or whatever is the best way to describe what you do.

Thus much of my challenge.

What we do and how people actually use us are bound to be very different things.

Reality = short run CnC manufacturing

Customer perception: pretty/cool things with personal touches

Need a custom leather patch, no problem

Acrylic wall sign…sure

Pair of etched wine glasses…done

Fancy wooden gift box…on it

I’m kind of planning on making a list of things to work on with the goal of a new product every day or two and post it to social media. After a while I imagine I will have enough cool stuff to start getting consistent hits. There is so much stuff that can be done the possibilities are pretty much only limited by my imagination.

Something like “allure laser designs” feels a little flat. Accurate, descriptive, but trying to think like a customer “why do i want to go to a laser design service?”

Perhaps “Allure unique gifts” or “allure gift studio” focus more on the what we do than the how we do it. IME customers rarely care how you do it if they like the end result.

All that matters is whether you come up when people do a search. So SEO is way more important than the name.

But it should be “Bzzzt!

  • Techy (no vowels)
  • Lasery
  • Fun

…and people will remember it as "That one that is a noise with a bunch of “z"s but I forget how many”.

“Laser Cutting and Etching Design - All Profits go to Support Isis”

This business name starts off by getting to the point of what you do clearly and quickly, which is best for being visible to potential customers, and then finishes off on a positive heart-warming statement that you support the ancient Egyptian deity of maternal health.

It’s a winner.

Might as well just go for broke and advertise a nambla discount on blue lives matter themed logos.
