Suggestion for reporting posts

I’ve reported the odd post now and then which sends an email to the moderators, and often forget to make a copy of my comment. Oops. Would it be possible for the author of the report to be cced on the email to the moderators?

Why do you need a copy?

Mod: Why didn’t someone send us a report on this post?
Quartz: But, I did!
Mod: No, you didn’t.
Quartz: YES, I DID!!
Mod: (pause) No, you didn’t.
Quartz: Ha! I had a copy sent to me!
Mod: Damn your evidence!

We don’t archive them when we get them; we handle them like every other email.

The press of business is such that mostly we don’t even have time to acknowledge receipt. Sorry about that.

That’s the point - you wouldn’t need to archive them if the sender got a copy.

I reported a post in Cafe Society in October. I was sent an email with a copy of my comment. I thought it was an automatic thing. I guess not.

I don’t think we can get the system to do that automatically, that’s the problem.

In fact that’s a lot of the problem here, people keep asking us to do what the system can’t do automatically. The software’s not designed to handle everything the way some people would like.

Sorry about that, we like to be able to accommodate people’s wishes when we can.

Ah well, put it on the wishlist for the next version.

Dex usually sends an acknowlegement – must be the Cary Grant infludence. swoon

It’s a function of how much time the mod has available, which is partly a function of which fora the mod is responsible for. Cafe Society, although big, is usually a low-stress forum, so Dex doesn’t get many reports, so he has time to respond to them. Other mods may vary.

Hm, so I should stop sleeping with his pic beneath my pillow?

I would love this, as I have never gotten any kind of confirmation from a mod that it had even been received…I would even like a reciept, cause now I feel like it’s going into the deep blue yonder!

Not to worry, we seem to get most of these emails. And you’re often not the only one with a question/complaint/report, so we tend to see what we need to see sooner or later.

The point is well taken that the smaller forum areas (such as Cafe Society) tend to get more personalized attention. In our larger and more active forums, we’re doing good to read what’s happening and to act on it. Sometimes in the rush, the social niceties go by the wayside. Please don’t take it personal. There’s only 24 hours in a day and we all seem to have more than enough work in that time period; all too often for some of us, the day ends but the work does not. We’re doing our best here.
