Suggestion for "SDMB 'Best Joke of the Year'": an informal, homegrown title and honor

Now I’m confused.

Is this a ‘best joke’ contest or a ‘funniest post’ contest. Because it seemed to be the first initially but now it seems more like the latter.

So, which is it, exactly?

And, is it funny posts that just come up in random threads, or should everyone post their funniest stories?

Funny posts. And I modified the title to say “Awesome-est.”

For people like them, whose joking is consistently and clearly exceptional, set up a “Hall” of Fame for Best Jokers Of All Time and induct them. Once this is done, clearly lesser awards would be beneath them so they wouldn’t be considered for a regular award. And only induct posters when merited, so you wouldn’t be required to induct one every year.

Ah, the “Neil Peart wins this Modern Drummer award too darn much” idea.
