Suggestion for SDMB

I think it might be interesting to posters, especially some of the long term term posters, to create an official “zombie thread of the week”.

Some of the moderators/ leads like Tubadiva who’ve been here the longest could personally select some very old & interesting threads, I’m imagining ones from year one of the the SDMB. Topics maybe have new info since the posts or benefits of hindsight or pop culture discussions that are now funny or nostalgic in retrospect.

Just a thought.

I actually have a file of old “Threadspotting” links.

Here’s an example (selected at random off the list):

I can see if I can’t find a place to post 'em, maybe do one a day, would there be any interest in that?

“There’s a future in the past.”

heres a q why don’t we see if they can let the sdab empty the mail bag?? im sure theres a million and one unanswered questions in it

OK, I laughed a lot, but that’s 40 minutes of my life I won’t get back. Not sure I can afford that every week. At my age.

I would absolute love this. Maybe in MPSIMS, make it a weekly thing like the MMP. Maybe change the original title with something to indicate it’s part of the weekly zombie roundup. Like: “[March 7, 2019 zombie resurgence thread] original thread title”

I just want to note that not a single person in the linked thread has been banned in the last 12 years. It must say something about. . .something.

Yes! Threadspotting was how I found the dope. I’d love to revisit some of those old threads!

Here’s another one:

Do you want us to respond to these official zombie threads, and/or will you giving an in-thread explanation that these were not revived by some spammer you cornfielded?

Yeah, I should do this in a more organized fashion. I should also let the mods know what I’m up to.

My bad.

Just wanted to add my vote and say that I LOVE this idea!

It’s happened many times, I’ll be reading a fascinating thread and I notice an old poster: “Huh, Otto has a good point… whoawaitaminute…” Sure nuff, it’s a Zombified Thread. But still really interesting.

And even if I’ve read it before I learn something (and even if I notice “Now THIS guy has a good point, and a great sense of humor, and his name is… let’s see… digs. Whoawaitaminute…”)
