People are obviously ignoring the one or two stickies containing all faqs.
How about 5 stickies for the 5 most commonly asked?
*“Why can’t we edit our posts?”
“How to do spoiler/other tags?”
“Why no avatars/ image code?”
“Why are the servers so slow?”
“What do you feed the hamsters?”*
(ok so I couldn’t think of a sensible fifth one)
I personally don’t think it would be that beneficial, because people who would read those stickies are the same people who read the FAQs as it is. But in particular, it’s my impression that the majority of the questions of the fourth type - Why is the server slow? - originate in other forums and are moved here. If this is right, then having an ATMB sticky wouldn’t help.
That makes sense, but let me explain my reasoning…
Situation a) (one big long thread of faqs)
Person comes here with question “why can’t we edit our posts?” sees that there’s a faq. Thinks ‘hm, it’s probably in there somewhere. But I don’t want to have to read the whole thing in order to find it. It might annoy a few people but I don’t care about that - I’ll ask’ and asks.
Situation b) (5 stickies)
Person comes here with question"why can’t we edit our posts?" . Sees “why can’t we edit our posts?” straight away. clicks.
(asking the question again when it’s there plain to see would be just plain silly)
But I guess that doesn’t cover your explanation about question 4.
I guess it is just preferable to let people ask rather than mess up the place with stickies (and still get people asking, albeit in reduced frequency)
So? Any more opinions?
