Suggestion to make re-subscribing easier

Hi everyone. I just re-subscribed. I was surprised as how much looking around I had to do to find the subscription window. It wasn’t hard, but it wasn’t easy either. I follow the philosophy that any business should make it as easy as possible for customers give you money. :slight_smile: The User Control Panel is not the first place I thought to look for the subscription link. You might want you consider adding a link to the payment page (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/payments.php) on the homepage, on the user profile page, or both.

I hope this doesn’t come off as a criticism, because I don’t think there is anything wrong with the way things are now. I just think that my suggestions might increase the number of subscriptions enough to more than justify the effort of adding the links.

No, you’re right – it shouldn’t be a mystery or a scavenger hunt to find out how to subscribe.

This was another of the things that fell out of the upgrade that made stuff different that we need to rework better. And I hope we will.

I just looked through a couple of the ATMB threads regarding subscriptions, and I noticed something – there are plenty of posts that give clear directions on how to get to the subscription page, but I see none of them that offer a direct link. Yes, it’s good for people to be able to find their way to that page once each year, but editing the first post in the relevant threads to add a line reading “Click Here to subscribe” might go a long way to getting more subscriptions.
