suggestions for dissertation title on creationism

I’m studying philosophy at an undergraduate level taking the following core courses: Metaphysics&Philosophical Logic, Epistemology&Methodology, Ethics, Greek Philosophy and Modern Philosophy.

This year I have opted to take an optional dissertation paper for which I have to create my own question. The subject can be ‘anything’ as long as its ‘philosophy’ and I have pretty much made up my mind that the subject I wish to investigate is creationism and ‘evolutionism’. This comes from a long time lurking on these boards enjoying the heated debate and also a lot of personal experiences with Evangelical Christians.

A tutor recommended ‘Abusing Science’ and ‘Science Truth and Democracy’ by Phillip Kitcher both of which I’m part of the way through. The treatment of the issues seem quite general and related to philosophy of science which although I do not take I still know about however I would like to approach the subject if possible from an epistemic point of view and/or philosophy of psychology. The specification for the dissertation is that the more narrow the question the better so as much fun as it would be I couldnt really do “Evolution or Creation. Discuss”. I ask then any dopers with knowledge of this area to either recommend texts that might give me further inspiration or offer potential topics or formulations thereof.

This is all only for preliminary considerations, my topic will have to be reviewed and accepted but I wish to have a clear and detailed plan by the time the review process beigns so any advice anyone can offer would be much appreciated.

Knowing Before Knowing: What Are the Criteria for Determining What Events Were Real Before There Were Observers to Observe Those Events and How Do We Apply These Criteria to the Origins of Humanity and Human History?

Peace.

Ewwww, you young’uns says ‘epistemic’ nowadays, do ya? Back in my day we had to carry around the verbally heavy ‘epistemological.’ Bet you say ‘systemic’ and ‘dystopic’ a lot, too, accenting the pentultimate syllable with your fancy pants academic glee, you hipster, you.

Interesting title. Actually we say both, epistemic and epistemological and yes I have found my tongue hurting somewhat with the second. I have yet to see the difference between the two, ho-hum…

Questions seeking advice or opinion belong in IMHO.

Moved to IMHO.
