Four hundred suitcases, collected from patients at a New York asylum from 1910 to 1960, were found in an attic 1995. The link shows the contents of a few of the 80 that have been photographed.

Fascinating. It’s too bad that the families of those patients (if they can be found) can’t have the suitcases.
I noticed a book in one suitcase – Amazon Throne by Bertita Harding. That one is about the Braganzas, Portugese royals from Brazil. There’s no Wiki bio on Ms. Harding, which is odd because she wrote a lot of books – mostly royal family biographies. All I can find was a PDF of a leaflet announcing that she’d be lecturing. Beautiful woman. Here’s the leaflet.
I’ve actually been to see this exhibit, when it was at the local museum. Looking at the artifacts, even behind glass, is extremely compelling.
