Yeah, I don’t have long jump (and triple jump), or weightlifting. And I’m not sure if “beat somebody up” includes fencing or not.
Still, kind of a fun list to come up with.

@Robot_Arm
That’s a good list.
Agree with @Snarky_Kong that rhythmic gymnastics not a good fit.
Would also add surfing, sport climbing.
There’s no goal in rugby but I accept “put round thing over line” as equivalent to “put round thing in goal”
On reflection Sports Climbing fits into “Move body over defined distance faster than other people”
Just say martial arts, which would include not only boxing and judo but also shooting and archery as well as fencing.
Several false starts in the men’s 100m heats. It’s a false start if you leave the blocks less than 1/10 of a second after the gun.
Not automatically, but yes if you leave the blocks that quickly you are in trouble.
Czech Republic being quite competitive against the USA in men’s basketball, I’m liking it.
Just for fun, here’s the winter Olympic list.
Ski fast
Skate fast
Slide fast
Skate pretty
Ski pretty
Skate and hit puck into net with stick
Ski and shoot things
Curling
I watched the men’s doubles final this morning. The pair from Chinese Taipei beat the top seeds, the pair from China. Again, action almost too fast to follow. The reaction times from these athletes is unbelievable.
Definitely not the badminton that we played in Grandpa’s backyard.
Alright, it’s Saturday afternoon. I turn on the Olympics, and see that the US men’s basketball team is playing the Czech. team. OK, let’s watch. Oh, look at that, there’s a Chicago Bulls player on each team. Cool, now I have an additional interest. I also have my fancy internet connected laptop going, and I’m perusing the Google News. And I just found out how the game turns out. DOH!
I went to Atlanta in 96, and the first event I went to was badminton. Probably not something I would have picked to see, but some friends of the friend I went with had an extra ticket so of course I went to watch. It was amazing, the speed of the game and the long rallys. So much so that I found a ticket and went the next day. One game was Malaysia vs Indonesia, and those fans were intense. Great event to watch.
In a surprise upset, the Israeli baseball team beat Mexico 12-5. A befuddled Israeli public says, “Huh? We have a baseball team?”.
A great effort, given the gruelling schedule of two games, both of which were lost. I had reread the wiki article twice to get my head around how last in the group progresses.
Apologies if this has already been discussed, but are there live US broadcasts of the Track & Field events? I want to watch the men’s 100m final, which apparently takes place in about an hour.
I’m tuned in to NBC Sports App - S7, which is apparently set to show it pretty soon (as they’re showing the Triple Jump final right now).
Thanks. I’ve got access to Canadian sports channels, so am watching the CBC broadcast of T&F events now on TSN2.
The High Jump final ended with Qatar’s Barshim and Italy’s Tamberi agreeing to share the gold.
Then with Tamberi walking around in exhilaration with an Italian flag across his shoulders compatriot Lamont Jacobs wins the 100m!
Sure. Haven’t you heard of the House of David? House of David (commune) - Wikipedia
(Their barnstorming is one of those bits of trivia baseball fans know.)
Of course, “Israeli baseball team” is, shall we say, a generous description; a lot of those guys are Americans - at least a few of whom, so far as I can tell, have never resided in Israel - with major league or high minor league experience. Still, good for them.
The 100 metres champion Jacobs had a personal best of 9.95 before the Olympics. He then produced personal bests in the heats, semis and finished with 9.80 in the final which is an insane improvement.
Andre De Grasse pullin’ in the bronze for Canada. I’m sure he’s disappointed he didn’t win gold but considering the injuries he’s dealt with since 2016, it’s first rate.
The results were extremely surprising aside from De Grasse. I would never have picked Jacobs to win, and if an American was going to win silver I sure wouldn’t have picked Kerley. Everyone picked Trayvon Bromell to win - and he didn’t even make it - and had Ronnie Baker as the upset pick.
