Sumpin (Perry) had a short little life.

Well, for those of you who helped to name the bird I have a bit of bad news.
On Friday night around 10pm Sumpin or Perry, had a little accident and is no longer with us.
I got home from work at 4am after a 12 hour shift for my husband to wake just long enough to say “hey by the way your bird died” and roll over and go back to sleep! He was upset, the bird seemed to like him a heck of a lot, be like most men when it comes to stuff like that he has no sense of tact. Or timing I might add.
Later in the day I asked him what exactly happened and he has no idea really. Said the bird was fine a few minutes earlier and then when he went to cover him for bed that is when he found him.
He thinks Sumpin may have gotten caught in one of the rings he had in the cage and maybe fell and broke his neck since he couldn’t free-fall.
I am not sure if I want to get another bird right away, but the kids want to. We were just getting to the point where Sumpin was getting comfortable around all the noise and comming out of the cage and allowing himself to be petted.

Mods, I am not sure if anyone will post to the name my bird thread, but you might want to close it since it is pointless now. I wouldn’t want for anyone to post a name for a bird and they might not know that it is dead. The thread is sinking, but stranger things have happened.

I am sorry to hear about the fate of young Sumpin’/Perry – it took longer to name the little peeper than it actually kept the name.

<sigh>

I think I speak for many of us when I say: Oh poop.

My condolences, anyhow.

Sorry Kricket… I hope the kids are taking it OK…

The kids are doing okay with it. And even though we had a little funneral, we couldn’t bury him since the ground is still too hard and we got snow again.
