This puzzle consists of 16 movie titles. These titles have been broken into “doublets”, and the doublets alphabetized.
Example:
AM ER IC AN BE AU TY
AM AN AU BE ER IC TY
+++
Problems:
Prior to being broken into doublets, the movie titles were altered to reflect a current trend in Hollywood.
In addition to problem #1, each title entry contains either an extra single letter or an extra doublet. These extra letters are not part of the altered titles at all.
Mitigating Circumstances:
The extra single letters and doublets can be arranged to spell out the title of an appropriate 1989 film.
The Hollywood trend can be found thus: (altered title #/letter #) 2/16, 14/17, 8/3, 3/22, 6/5, 5/13, 1/3, 10/16, 9/9, 15/3, 7/17, 13/3, 4/3, 11/9, 12/11, 16/14
Can you discover the altered movie titles, the extra title, and the trend?

While the entry at #15 works, I actually meant to put in :
Glad you enjoyed the puzzle. Work and life keep me very busy now, so there are fewer puzzles from this poster. Maybe someone else could give them a try?
One thing drove me nuts writing this one. I wanted to find a well-known movie title with the letters “TV” together (probably with the ending of one title word with a “T” and the beginning of the next word with a “V”) for a product placement. I wracked my brain and spent many hours with VideoHound, but couldn’t come up with one. Can anyone?
