Earlier this week I downloaded the New and Improved Macrohard 2001 Puzzle software version 2.166666. As I explained to the tech guy over the phone, I’ve been very busy and have not had a lot of time to put together a new puzzle. I need help. The original software had an annoying glitch (see Sunday Morning Puzzle #16), so I was hoping their new version would be better. You see, I’ve this list of related words I’ve been meaning to use, and because it is almost Memorial Day, there’s not much time to waste. The tech guy assured me the new version would be able to correctly read the words and provide me with fresh definitions.
“You’ll love the new feature,” the tech guy told me. “You enter a word and the software provides four single word definitions or synonyms.”
Great! So, as I said, I downloaded the software and entered my list of twelve related words. Out popped four clue words for each. They’re listed below.
Sigh. The new version of the software seems to also have a bug. It reads the entered words correctly, but the clue words it provides are off by 1 letter each. So if I enter “dog” for instance, I might get these four words: FELLOW, WOUND, CHOP, and CRANK (3). They’re supposed to be FOLLOW, HOUND, CHOW, and FRANK.
Maybe you can still figure out the real definitions, my list of words, and the related theme…
