I read Foxtrot in today’s paper and noticed something that is customary of Amend’s inside-joke style. You can see it here. I wondered where the names of the hot guys came from, and then I curiously started looking through the paper at other cartoonist’s names.
“Ricky Kirkman” is Rick Kirkman, who writes Baby Blues.
“Scotty Adams” as you all know, is Scott Adams, who writes Dilbert.
Can you ID any others? My newspaper doesn’t carry many of the really good comics. This is up there with Amend sneaking in real math equations in Foxtrot when Jason is nerding.
Dan Piraro draws “Bizarro”.
“Jimmy Davis” just has to be Jim Davis, of “Garfield” fame".
Mike Peters draws “Mother Goose and Grimm”.
Bill Hinds draws “Tank McNamara”.
Yet another reason why I love Fox Trot. I also love little tiny things they put on newspapers or magazines in the strip–things like “Cartoonist to open for Bruce Springsteen” or something like that.
I so thought I put this in Cafe Society. I could have sworn. Wherever the mods decide to put it is fine with me. I actually went to CS to search for it.
