Out of curiosity, how easily could someone be killed by a falling TV these days? Modern flatscreens tend to be pretty lightweight.

I mean I could see a baby getting killed if a TV tipped over and fell on it’s head. But I can’t really see a kid the age of the one in the Nationwide commercial suffering too severely if a flatscreen TV were to fall on him.

The TVs we had when I was growing up ('80s, early 90s), on the other hand, could do real damage if they were to tip over.

it’s not just the weight of the thing, it’s how fast and in what way it hits. A 55"+ LCD is heavy enough where- if, say, it struck the kid via and edge or corner- it could cause a skull fracture.

…As far as commercials go, I have to say it was pretty effective. I’d never heard those words before, but they really resonate.

Unless you’re Creationist Ken Ham and you saw this as evolution propaganda. Somehow, in his world, a beautiful harkening to the sea is really a reminder that our lives are just meaningless…
