I’m rooting for a good game (it usually is, when the Patriots play in the Super Bowl), and for good food and a nice time with the family. I could honestly care less who wins.
The Brady-Belichick Patriots must fly in the face of some statistic. All eight of their Super Bowls have been decided by one score or less. Six have been decided by four points or less.
Never assume. I mean, if Tampa Bay can win a Superbowl, anyone can.
Maybe someday Cleveland will be decimated by a hurricane, and the NFL will hand them one just because it makes a good story.
They are also the only team to win a SB in OT.
I was hoping for some good food and friends to enjoy the game with and then I found out that my ex was going to be there. Kind of puts a damper on things.
Ouch! ![]()
Which is a testament to the Belichick, Kraft, and Brady and their organizational system. The Patriots are coached and trained to make every play count and to win tight games.
I grew up in the Fox River valley getting Green Bay stations, so I grew up with Packer Fans. I didn’t even watch football until relatively recently. I’m still not a huge fan, but I really only watch Packer games.
I do live in Minnesota, so if the Vikings were in it I might actually root for them (not sure I would watch).
So with a choice of “Wins way too much” vs “moving McMoverface”* I guess a slight preference for the rams (an asteroid would likely take out some innocent bystanders), but my real answer is “hey, Incredibles 2 is on Netflix”
Brian
*one thing about the Packers, they will never move.
Eh… a bunch of people I don’t know — some of them violent assholes — giving each other brain damage playing a game that can’t be refereed fairly? How could it matter…?
“If the Rams win, Trumperdinck suffers? That is a noble cause.”
(Actually, I became a Rams fan while they were in St. Louis, and didn’t really care about the move to LA. I greatly prefer watching games on television to watching live.)
I wanted to vote “neither”
Apparently the Patriots are a racist MAGA supporting team..
(I thought New England was a liberal region
)
Ugghh, but still, Kronenke!
I’m not a fan of either team. The MAGA thing makes it easy to root for the Rams , for one day at least.
Interesting, the left wing version of Breitbart really hates the Pats.
I’d guess 95% of the players aren’t Trump supporters. (I’m probably under exaggerating.)
So, I’ll base it on the owner, head coach, and star quarterback.
Except that, in most of their Super Bowls, the Brady-Belichick Patriots were *favored *to win, and ended up either losing or winning only very narrowly. If a team is really trained to “make every play count,” they wouldn’t have to cut it so narrowly; they should have won at least one or two Super Bowls by large margins by now.
Take the Patriots’ fellow 5-Lombardi peers as comparison: the Niners and Cowboys. The Niners have won one Super Bowl by 45 points (SBXXIV) and the Cowboys one by 35 points (SBXXVII). Statistically, one would expect the Patriots to have won one Super Bowl by a hefty margin. The Brady-Belichick streak of eight Super Bowls all decided by one score is an anomaly.
Totally fair. Saying the team is led by MAGA folks is supported by overwhelming evidence.
I’d certainly never stand in the way of another person despising the Patriots. ![]()
I think it has to do with New England’s “play not to lose” philosophy. Much is made about how the team frequently tailors its game strategy to target an opponent’s strengths and cripple them. Compare that to other teams that know their own strengths and try to capitalize on them. Dragging down an opponent rather than pushing yourself generally leads to situations where you’re not set up to blow out your opponents.
So I’d agree it’s an anomaly, but I’d also suggest that nobody should assume it’s a coincidence or an accident.
Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh…… Rams.
Anyone against the Patriots generally gets my vote. Rams ownership sucks for moving to LA and they got in on a missed call against the Saints. Blah blah blah, Rams.
I am not entirely sure about Brady. I remember they won the Lombardy in 2017 and Brady could not go with the team to the Whitehouse because he had something more important to do that day.
Rams win but Suh gets ejected in first quarter and has no impact on the outcome. Tom Brady throws 20 interceptions and the center gets ejected for deflating the ball at the line of scrimmage. Belichick lies on sideline in fetal position throughout the 4th quarter.
