Just got into a vicious argument with a gal about SML on orig Gameboy. My record for beating the game is a little over 22 minutes. She says (with a straight face) she did it in about 18 minutes. I say complete BS.
Has anyone beat it in faster than 22 minutes?
I beat it in about five seconds. I dropped it on the floor, lifted the sledge hammer, and WHAM!!!
If I hear any more of that f***ing ding-ding-ding Gameboy music, I’m going to spontaneously mutate into a gigantic pigeon and personally poop on the heads of everyone who bought one… grr…
warmgun, I understand where you are coming from. If I had a quarter for every time I’ve heard someone brag about beating a video game in what seemed like an impossible time - well I’d have enough money to buy more video games, but I digress.
I can only imgaine that if the game were to be beaten in such a time it would have to be through the assistance of some time of “secret passage” which would save time for Mario to tool around in Marioland. I mean, there is a limit on how fast the character can move through the screens and a proficient player should be able to proceed through the game at a constant rate of full speed.
I think there is only one way to settle this one… Get those thumbs warmed up !
Mario Land: 25 minutes
Mario Land 2: 4 hours
Super Mario Bros: 10 minutes (less if we could skip the black screens)
Super Mario 64: 75 stars, 1 day.
I also beat The Legend Of Zelda without saving. And since you save when you die, yes, that means I never died. I’m quite the prodigy at video games.
I can’t think of any other records off the bat, however. Perhaps I’ll get back later.
This is more of an IMHO than a general question, so I’ll move it.

Tis really pathetic, with as much as I PLAY video games, I should be a prodigy, but nooooo… Brian’s rather pathetic at them.
Oh well, they’re fun anyhow.
