Super Monday Night Combat?

It’s a free to play third person shooter on Steam. It’s class based with classes that heavily resemble the classes you find in Team Fortress 2. It has heavy weapons guy, engineer, spy, medic, sniper and medic counterparts, but it plays more like a real time strategy game. There are “towers” to attack with bots that lead the way and midgame you level your character up in various aspects as you gain money from being a bad ass.

Anyone here playing this yet? It sort of accidentally came out of beta a few weeks ago and the developer just ran with it and made it officially released. If I’m not mistaken, there are a few Dopers that played MNC, so what sort of interest does SMNC have 'round these here parts?

I thought I’d give it a try at weekend. It’s not bad, a change from most online FPS (which I suck at major league). Nice humour, interesting gameplay with varied characters.

I like the “free to play / pay to pretty” design. All the in-game boosts are bought with "combat credits "you win from playing. The real money store is for things like new skins. Although you can buy boosters to increase the amout of combat credits you receive, they don’t make you significantly superior to other players.

My only concerns are over the matchmaking system. It’s a 5-a-side game, and if a player drops out you can’t replace them. This leads to situations where your team is losing, so one of your team-mates ragequits. Hastening your demise.

This is a shame, as I’ve been in a couple of matches already that have swung right around as a wining side over extend themselves and the opposition make a comeback.

It is still pretty much a game in developement right now. I’m enjoying a couple of games a day, as long as I can get my “first win of the day” bonus credits.

Announcer 1: “15 Seconds to the Annihilator!”
Announcer 2: “I’m holding my breath in anticipation!”
Announcer 1: “Uh, that’s not your breath.”

This game is pretty fun, but it lacks a voice chat option, as far as I can tell. It sure would be useful to be able to tell my team that a specific lane needs some help rather than using the text chat, that no one pays attention to.

Press T.

Yeah I’m still having fun (looks like the only 2 on here who are). Just got enough credits to buy my first pro (I did spend a couple of grand on Money Magnet). Waiting to see who’s on free rotation this week before I buy. I’m 32 wins, 23 losses and 1 left due to the client crashing. Of those losses I reckon 18 at least had a quitter on my team. Which is a shame because a few good Anni’s and you can make a real fight of things.

My 2 proudest aceivements so far are being top scorer on my team - and winning! As usually If I’m highest score we’ve lost big style. And last night I was on a team that won 4 v 5.

Monday Night Combat was a good time waster until Halo: Reach came out. I downloaded Super Monday Night Combat, but haven’t really played it yet.
