There’s one opening up right down the street… I’m gonna finish their famous Pounder (it’s really 20ozs.) and get my picture on their wall of fame. You whiners and portion nazis can all kiss my fat ass.
Agreed, however, not as wrong as teasing me w/ the thought of those onion rings w/ horseradish dipping sauce…wah.
I really hope you are joking. I cannot even fathom stuffing 6-7 lbs. of food into my gob. Put it like this: My buddy and I, when we were both 17-year-old, fit teenagers with huge appetites, would snag a large Beau Jo’s pie when we went up to his cabin. It would last the whole weekend, for both of us, eating pizza for every meal.
The Challenge is significantly bigger than their large.
About a month ago, I met some friends at The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. There were five of us. We ordered three appetizers and three entrees, for the table. We all ended up taking home lots of leftovers!
I had weight loss surgery in June. Since then, when my hubby and I go out to eat, we often order one dinner to share, and still end up with enough leftovers for me to have breakfast the next day.
But that’s okay. I like leftovers.
Oh hells yes! I regularly finish the Digiorno Deep Dish or Stuffed Crust, which is 36 oz. I like steaks to be a pound or so. Sounds like the Pounder is a worthy goal.
Fortunately potato chips still come in single serving bags. A mere 12 1/2 oz.
In truth you can doggy bag and eat tomorrow.
That’s a great alternative and I do that with my girlfriend when we go out. However, Mr. K and I recently ate at a new, nicer (but not swank) place here in town. They have like an $8 “sharing” charge and a “salad only” charge and all kinds of add-on charges so you can’t get out cheap. Or unstuffed.
If it were me, I don’t think I’d be going back there.
We did run into a situation once where the restaurant would not let us share a meal. It was a Friendly’s.
The funny part was when the busboy came to clear some of our plates away while we were figuring out how to pay for it (cash or card). He said, “Hey dude! It wasn’t all that good, was it?” It was just OK; certainly not worth what we paid for it. But that cracked us up. We laughed all the way home.
When I have a dining companion, we frequently order one appetizer and one full meal. For instance, one order of queso and one order of fajitas will usally be more than enough for two, and fajitas and queso are easy to split up between diners. It’s a bit harder to split up something like roast turkey and dressing, unless I ask for another empty plate. A couple of weeks ago my husband and I tried a new restaurant, which was very good, but I think that between the two of us we had about dozen servings of mashed potatoes on our plates. I did take home the leftovers, and we had mashed potatoes in various forms for almost a week. I had a couple of sandwiches made from the leftover turkey, too. So if I don’t feel like grocery shopping for a couple of days, I guess I could just go over to this place and order a meal or two.
Incidentally, mashed potatoes are very good when reheated with a little sour cream and cheese.
You are in luck. A Carl’s Jr. is opening in Covington this weekend, it’s only a 5 minute drive from my house.
And about two and a half hours from mine. I like a Famous Star now and again, but not that much!
Asking for an empty plate is exactly what we do. As long as the waiter is accommodating, we are always sure to tip as if we had both ordered.
