Superbowl 3D commercials

Did everyone get their 3D glasses? You can reuse them for the 3D check on Monday night. I ordered a bunch off of eBay - they’re not in yet which is making me a little nervous. But I have 3 more days for them to arrive.

I ended up with 50 or so because I grabbed a stack not realizing there were four to a sheet. Oh well, they were free, and now everyone at my party can see in 12-D!

Where would you get said sheets?

You can order some by calling 1-800-646-2904. I don’t know if it’s too late.

You ordered them on eBay? I got a sheet free from a display at Acme.

Lots of grocery stores have them, and Target stores will have them on Saturday. If you go to www.monstersvsaliens.com you can see the list of store that have them. I got my set at Food Lion.

You can also use them for a special 3D edition of Chuck on Monday.

enalzi, are they just like the old red/cyan glasses except with yellow and blue filters instead? I read up on this “ColorCode 3D” system and though they claim it is nothing like the old red/cyan system, I can’t find any real difference other than the color filters they are using.

I’m going out hunting for glasses tomorrow…the cool thing is, if it is just yellow and blue, I have 3D photos that I can re-render into yellow/blue separations and use these glasses for viewing. Whee!

They were less than 5 dollars with shipping on eBay which was acceptable to me. In time and effort I would have spent more than that going to the store looking for them. I’m a bachelor and don’t need to go to the store that often - when I do, I usually just go a mile down the road to the little farmer’s market, and I already know that they don’t have any.

With the old red/blue glasses, you effectively had no color in the image. With the ColorCode system, most of the color is passed through the amber filter, and you get most of the depth from the blue filter.

ColorCode is also one of the only 3D systems in which viewers without glasses don’t see a blurry, messed up image. The color fringes that give the 3D effect are not as noticeable or distracting as other anaglyph systems.

That said, it’s still not as good as polarized or shutter glasses. But it’s a reasonable compromise.

I happen to know one of the guys in Denmark who invented the system.

Holy crap! Now I’ll have to get a set.

How is it that I am just now hearing about this?

I’ve got some, but what exactly is going to be shown in 3D? Some lame-ass 30-second commercial?

I dunno, I called a buddy who always a superbowl party and he hadn’t heard either. I’m trying to get the word out though.

A trailer for the 3D movie Monsters Vs. Aliens that will appear at the end of the second quarter. I’d guess the ad will be a minute long.

I grabbed a sheet at the grocery store. Just happened upon them by accident.

Besides Monsters vs. Aliens trailer, there will also be a SoBe ad featuring the characters from the film interacting with the SoBe lizards- as well as a 3-D episode of Chuck the following night.

I just got mine at Stop ‘n’ Shop, although that is not one of the stores listed on the site.

My glasses finally came in! I was starting to think I had paid 5 dollars for nothing. The point was to have them for the Superbowl. I’ll probably watch Chuck too, but the reason was to have them for tomorrow. Thank goodness they’re here.

Wow. Not worth the hype or the effort! I was very disappointed.
