Supergirl trailer out

The Danvers’ are a nice little Easter egg for fans.

Dean Cain (Superman from Lois & Clark) and Helen Slater (Supergirl from the movie.)

Amen, I watched a video recently where some special effects team reversed the desaturation and murkiness of MoS, simply making it look more bright, cheerful and realistic actually improved it for me.

As for Supergirl, the trailer looks like it could be fun, I like the main characters cheerfully upbeat humour.

I know nothing about the character but I was wondering, what if she had a somewhat different moral compass than Superman*, for example, although she isn’t bloodthirsty she doesn’t have the same self-restrictions on violence as Superman and will even kill her opponent if absolutely necessary, and without descending into self-hate and angst about it. It would be an interesting twist that a bad guy might even feel relieved that its Superman and not Supergirl that turns up, because with the former they’re more likely to walk away in one piece.

They could do that without going down the whole dark and gritty route either. Actually on a sidenote, does Supergirl have the same powers as Superman or do they differ?

*inspired by her apparently punching an ordinary human character through a brick-wall in the trailer!

Possibly, but they are on different networks.

Same powers. Kryptonians all come equipped (thanks to our yellow sun) with the standard FISS package, plus whatever vision, breath and ventriloquism* powers the writers can dream up.
*-Seriously.

The Silver Age has much to answer for…

Ah, OK, thanks. Is Superman stronger? Or am I putting sexist human assumptions onto superpowered godlike alien entities?

…again.

This would be my guess.

Ah, OK!

I watched the trailer. That wasn’t the vibe I got from it.

No, I think Supes is a little stronger as he’s bigger and more experienced.

For a while in the comics, they played up the idea that Kal was burning through his reserves of bio-converted solar energy during all the years when Kara was soaking up unfiltered sunlight: leaving her with less experience, like you said, but more raw power.

Yes but it’s written into the contract that the possibility exists to show up.

No they couldn’t. And your idea sounds horrible.

I do have to say if Supergirl does end up existing in the same universe as Arrow, Flash and Legends than we could see a race between Supergirl and The Flash.

My money is on Flash

You’re the expert shrugs

It wasn’t really the vibe I got either, I just thought it might be an interesting difference between the two.

You’re not that far off from being right. Modern interpretations of Supergirl do have her being less… controlled than Superman. She definitely plays rougher. Not to the point of killing anyone, though. Just ‘reckless young person’ stuff.

Got a pic for you, Cap: Flash vs Supergirl

It’d be a tad more amusing if they were in a bedroom putting their costumes back on, with disappointed thought bubbles:

Flash : That was rough.
Supergirl : That was quick.

Of all the shows I’m looking forward to this is at the top of my list. I watched all 10 years of Smallville w/o missing a single episode. Love it. I hope they get Tom Welling to make a few guest appearances.

Dean Cain and Helen Slater are her adoptive parents. So it might happen.
