It truly was- that was my favorite part of the episode. Benoist is doing a great job in the role.
I thought it strange that nobody commented on the fact that Red Tornado managed to find a replacement arm.

Huh, I actually thought the rage face was comically overdone. To each their own.
Yea, that was an obvious sign that the robot was getting repaired. Hmm, who is going to repair this robot? Surely not the guy who has invested over a decade of his life into this creation and got summarily fired by the jerkwad General yesterday.
Nope, we better go to the smartest man in the city to ask him, because he needs a scene to show that he has the hots for Alex.
If this were Marvel, I’d say adamantium, but it’s not. Does DC have an equivalent substance?
At some point, Cat’s father will show up, and we’ll find out what he saw in Katherine. (Note that Katherine named her daughter after herself. Common, or used to be, with fathers, but a lot less so with mothers, at least after the 20th century.)
Speaking of fathers showing up: I remember reading in one of the Dune novels this piece of advice: “Never count a man dead until after you have seen the body. Even then, you can be mistaken.”
I’m more interested in the Catco storylines, especially her advice, than in the fight scenes.
I’m surprised that Kara didn’t mention being angry that her planet blew up.
I thought she was going to blurt out her love for James.
That scene did come right after Kara finally stood up to her boss, and then immediately started apologizing for it. I figured they were trying to set up the idea that Cat was happy that Kara was finally growing a spine. I thought the “it’s not ok for a woman to ever get angry” was a bit rich coming from someone who just ripped into her assistant for keeping her waiting 90 seconds, though.
I noticed that Red Tornado had grown a new arm, and that no one on the show noticed it. The show does seem to have logical gaps. Supergirl used her freeze breath on RT the first time they fought, and it worked well enough that she could break his arm off, then didn’t use it against him again. Alex called Supergirl “Kara” in the DEO HQ, does everyone there know her secret identity? And Kara was walking a tipsy Cat out of the bar when she got the alarm call from James; I thought they were going for a how-do-I-ditch-my-boss-and-change-into-Supergirl scene, but she just shows up at the fight seconds later.
Agreed. I’ve felt from the start that Daddy Danvers will play a large role this season or next. Or at least a simulacrum of DD. I hope they play it semi-long term now that the show has been picked up for a full season.
The show is uneven but so far still entertaining, I will continue to watch it. I really like the Cat character the best so far. Also the Red-eyes boss at the DEO is pretty good. Most of the supporting cast is less than stellar. General Lane is a particularly badly done character.
Yeah, Sam Lane is so rigid and tight-assed. They don’t mention if Clark Kent and Lois are dating, but General Lane undoubtedly hates Clark, too.
I would have loved it if Lucy had replied to her father, “Daddy, I hope the day comes when you’ll realize I know exactly what I’m doing and come to respect me as an adult.”
Jimmy being uncharacteristically black made the scene with Gen. Lane take on some uncomfortable undertones that really shouldn’t have been there.
I’m surprised they were able to use T.O. Morrow as the villian. I mean, yes, he built Red Tornado, but he’s mainly a Flash nemesis. I guess not having the rights strung out among different companies (looking at you Fox) helps. Still, I do understand that some of these shows are being hamstrung in who they can use by some of these upcoming movies (most of which sound terrible), so it’s weird they’d use him on Supergirl rather than maybe save him for Flash sometime.
Why would he be? They’re two distinct characters taken from existing stories.

I still wonder if he’s Cyborg.

Not the one you’re probably thinking of (the Teen Titan).
I meant to post something last week and forgot.
OK, the episode a week ago and the one previous were shown out of order; and I’m sad that they’re putting Max in the scheming supervillain role, instead of the more benign schemer he was in most of the JL comics.
This week. I’m disappointed that Kara killed a sentient Red Tornado. And her sister killed T. O. Morrow?! This show is starting to take too many extreme sanctions for a Superman family show.
Looks like “Henshaw” is an E.T. pretending to be Henshaw. Weird. Oh, and they can’t tell anyone because they suborned criminal behavior from poor Winn. The Danvers girls can be kind of dangerous to know.
No, I’m specifically thinking of Cyborg Superman. I know there’s a cyborg character in the teen titans but I thought they were distinct.
I agree - for a show with a lighthearted tone, they really are racking up a body count. It’s kinda schizoid at times - the episode starts with Supergirl getting in trouble for breaking a maniac’s arm after said maniac almost plows through a soccer squad and then throws a haymaker at Supergirl, and ends with her sister beating a guy to death in melee. (And since when did nerdy scientists become melee masters on par with with a special agent that can kill a Helgramite with it’s own weapons?).
I was expecting more of a “but if the android is sentient, shouldn’t it have the same rights as one of us?” subplot, but nope, it’s a bad guy, Kara needs to lure it out, beat the crap out of it, and then eye laser it out of existence. No moral dilemmas there.
I was kinda annoyed at two things with the Winn subplot. One, sure he’s a IT guy, but that apparently magically means he can hack into a secret organization’s computer systems and pull what have to be heavily guarded files in a day or so. Suuuuuuuuuuure. The computer scientist in me hates plot points like that. And I really hate the “There’s no way I can do that, it’s treason! Oh never mind, sure I’ll commit a dozen federal felonies to help you find your dad”. I mean, if they really cared, Supergirl could say she wants the file on Daddy Danvers or no more city saving for her. I’m sure even xenophobic Hank Henshaw would cave eventually. (Although, given how quickly Kara folded to General Lane’s demand that she test their anti-superman robot, probably not).
I was thinking back to post 118, after Henshaw’s glowing eyes were mentioned. Dendarii Dame said:
**As for the “red-eye” flash…
My husband reminded me that Red Tornado’s going to be on the series…and he’s a red-eyed android, isn’t he?**
But I do see that, a few posts later, another poster mentions that Hank Henshaw is actually a different character.
I thought this was the most fun episode so far… lots of just fun entertaining moments, which is kind of what the show has been lacking so far.
I loved them almost revealing Kara’s secret identity by mistake while playing “celebrities”. I also loved Kara tunneling through the earth. Nice to see super powers used for anything other than just punching.
Absolutely no part of the Red Tornado storyline made any actual sense, but, eh, whatever.
Speaking of the smartest man in the city, whenever I see Maxwell Lord, I think - “Man, they really wanted to cast Evil Wil Wheaton for this part, didn’t they?”
Although I think Wheaton would have been perfect for the role as well. Peter Facinelli is still doing a superb job, nothing against him.
I just discovered Evil Wil Wheaton appearing in a [Canadian?] show called “Dark Matter”. First season is on Netflix, and he only appears in one episode, but that episode looked like it may have been setting him up as a major antagonist in the second season. I imagine that the second season is airing now, so he may have been already committed.
Oops. Sorry I missed the earlier reference to Wheaton. Agree that Facinelli is doing fine, though.
He went to a second-hand store. Duh.
