Yeah, had to be Lobo they were referring to.
Lobo would be my guess, too.
Rewatched the Flash episode and Barry seems to be wearing some kind of tech on his costume around the lightning bolt on his chest. Since this hasn’t been mentioned on The Flash, I’m guessing that Worlds Finest takes place after the most recent episode, “Flash Back”.
Once again Cat Grant got the best line, “Call Harrison Ford and tell him I’m flattered, but I don’t date older men especially when they’re married.”
The show finally addressed the absence of the Big Blue Boy Scout by first making be off-world, then making him be susceptible to the effects of Myriad mind control. Of course, this doesn’t answer the question of why he let a secret organization of Kryptonian criminals prosper in the first place. One gets the impression that the Big Guy isn’t particularly smart, certainly not as smart as Maxwell Lord.
Isn’t that kind of Superman’s thing; that nobody can take him in a straight up fight but his nemeses are those who can out-think him?
This is true. Superman’s best enemies are those who can negate his strength or otherwise render it useless.
So why is it that Batman thinks that the best way to go up against Supes is to build a supersuit and take him on mano a mano?
I read that as ‘not as smart as Maxwell Smart’…
and I imagine Superman saying - --‘would you believe…?’
And that’s a wrap for the season.
This is a show where, upon being handed an ice cream cone, the lead character’s expression of unmitigated joy was brighter than the yellow sun she got her powers from. Yet for the finale, the supervillains plotted to kill everyone on the entire planet by exploding their heads, Scanners-style. And to defeat said supervillains, the lady robot was literally ripped in half by one superhero’s bare hands and the other had his eyes burned out and his brain lobotomized by heat vision. You can keep your brooding and moody superheroes in your dark and gritty big-budget movies. This is how superheroes should be done.
Forget saving the world; next season Kara’s going to face a real challenge: finding a new assistant for Cat Grant. It’s either a wacky subplot for the season premiere or a Murphy Brown-style ongoing set of cameos. (Which could be fun: what if the Barry Allen doppelganger applied for the job? Nah, she wouldn’t hire him: might make Cat suspicious.) Wouldn’t be surprised if Siobhan/Banshee escapes and goes after the new assistant.
Pretty sure she’ll hire herself, but with, like, a monocle.
“What? No, boss; that’s Cara with a ‘C’ – not Kara with a ‘K’.”
What’s in the Kryptonian pod? If it follows the comics, then it’s… Streaky, Supergirl’s pet Supercat. I hope not, actually.
Holy crap, this would be a genius move on the part of the writers.
And Cat Grant totally, totally knows about Kara’s secret identity.
But does Kara know that Cat knows?
Streaky was an ordinary Earth Cat who got it’s powers by playing with a ball of yarn in which X-Kryptonite had gotten tangled. X-Kryptonite was a substance created by Supergirl when experimenting to find an antidote.
At least that’s how it was in the original Supergirl run starting in 1959.
Comet, her super horse, wasn’t from Krypton either. Comet had originally been a Centaur who was changed to a horse instead of human by mistake. Then he was given super-powers as a consolation prize.
Krypto was from Krypton as was Beppo, the supermonkey.
I hope it’s not a super-pet, I liked Krypto in the comics but I just don’t think it would work in live action and we get enough CG as it is.
This is becoming a pretty decent show. I too like the lack of brooding and darkness that seem compulsory for super hero movies. Kara is bright and perky and Benoist plays it to perfection. I can do without Jimmy and wish they had more for Winn to do. Cat Grant is a great role for Flockhart. Does Cat know who Kara is? I don’t know for sure and I think that’s how it’s meant to be.
So what’s with the Kryptonian power ball? Lord and Lane were looking at it with a great deal of interest near the end of the episode- what can they do with it? I’m betting those two team up for some evil purpose.
Well, we’ve had Bizarro, Brainiac, Toyman, evil Kryptonians from the Phantom Zone, so what’s left for next season?
White Martians, obviously. One can only hope we will be spared Mr. Mxyzptlk (unless it’s a Dream sequence/episode). The Parasite’s a good possibility, as is some form of Metallo.
I suppose I can only dream Prof. Pepperwinkle will make an appearance.
They can mess with the origins, of course. I think Streaky would be a great addition, especially if his super-powers are slow to develop. Just let them build in the back-ground for a season or two, causing minor disasters and chaos. Then end the show with Kara sacrificing the entire planet to save Streaky, because she **isn’t **human and cats are better than people anyway. ![]()
What about Proty, the super amoeba? I know I read about it somewhere.
Proty was a member/pet of the Legion of Super-Heroes, set in the far future. Supergirl was an active member for a good part of its run.
How can a secret identity be a secret if everyone knows?
