Huh. I didn’t recognize him under the bowl cut.
At that: even if he’s going to get through a physical challenge without a scratch, it can be the case that people who aren’t bulletproof are in big trouble unless our hero is very careful and very clever.
I liked the Superman of “Superman and Lois”. He really hit that sweet spot of “massively powerful, but still an Iowa farmboy”.
When I was a kid (in the early '80s), I loved the World’s Finest Comics series where Superman and Batman would team up. When I reread them in my 20s, I realised that almost all of them had plots involving either (a) magic or (b) kyptonite (both of which can harm Superman). It made them feel a tad contrived.
Three things:
One, I don’t want to see him in that suit.
Two, I don’t want to see him fly.
And three, he’s got to fight a giant spider in the third act.
And while he’s steadfast and stoic during the shooting, when they throw the gun at him, he ducks. Superman’s actor’s mama didn’t raise no fool.
That only happened once in the series, and it wasn’t Reeves that ducked, it was his stunt double. Still looked pretty goofy though.
Like I said, BULLET-proof.
Their live-action movies have been hit-or-miss. DC has been much better at animating their heroes, though.
On which note, you owe it to yourself to check out My Adventures With Superman if you haven’t already. It’s an anime-inspired take on Clark, Lois, and Jimmy as new interns at the Daily Planet as Clark is just becoming Superman for the first time. It’s very well-written and has a great voice cast.
Thanks! An excellent Superman novel is It’s Superman by Tom de Haven. Clark Kent growing up in the 1930s.
We should get Tim Burton to direct as well!

I think Bruce Timm’s DCAU was the best comic adaptation ever. I still watch Justice League and JLU.
Can we talk about Clark’s hair? That looks to be the most extreme change between personas. Usually he just drops the spit curl or slicks his hair back.

Can I interest you in a remake of a 1960’s western?

I love the old Superman shows where someone unloads a gun at him and then when the gun is empty, throws the gun at him.
Makes me want to write a sketch where the gun knocks him out cold and the criminal goes, “Oh, he’s literally just bullet-proof!”
Makes perfect sense. Superman is the ‘Man of Steel’. Bullets are just lead, which is much softer than steel. Guns, however, are mostly made of steel, so they are as strong as Superman. Getting hit with a gun would at least give him a nasty welt.
As a funny little side note, my wife and I were watching ‘Twisters’ the other day, and my wife said one of the sidekick characters looked familiar-- where have we seen him before? I said I don’t know, but he looks a lot like a young Henry Cavill. I knew he wasn’t, but I thought maybe a younger bother or something…? So I IMDB’ed him, and turns out he was David Corenswet- the new Superman! So kids, if you grow up to be over 6’ tall, and have a certain look with a a strong jawline, you too might play Superman in a movie or TV show!

We think alike.
Now I want a reboot of WWW, with a young Jimmy West growing up in…where did he come from?..and his years in the civil war where he learns to fight and hone his unique skills, such as fighting and blowing shit up
Later he joins the secret service, but they have him checking counterfeit money and it’s all boring until he stumbles across this guy Michel Lieblos trying to rob Fort Knox with lifelike androids* and he realizes, as do his bosses, that he has a better talent hunting unique criminals.
At the end of the film then assign him his own train and a partner.
NO GIANT SPIDERS!!!*
**unless we’re remaking Jonny Quest

I do like this series. Except I realized that Jack Quaid voices Superman and now I hear Boimler every time he speaks.
I noticed that as well. Does Clark /Kal carry product everywhere he goes?

He just has Super oily hands.
Naw, his hair has musculature. It’s articulated. He can move it to whatever shape he wants, no different than you can move all your fingers around at your whim.
