Someone’s sig about caramel apples has made me wonder…
If Superman gets, well, y’know… the ‘squirts’… is it Super? I mean does it shoot out so fast a porcelain toilet bowl can’t handle it and explodes? I know sometimes when I get a bit of ol’ Montezuma’s revenge it comes out in a rush (I almost typed pretty quick, but there isn’t anything ‘pretty’ about it )
Actually no. Superman’s strength and power can be controlled (i.e. he can pull punches and the like, also he has the ability to turn off his strength, if not he would crush everything). So when he uses the bathroom, has sex, etc. it is not coming out at Super speed.
See the Parasite storyline from a couple of years ago for more info on this. They discuss a lot of things like that.
IIRC, I saw a reprint of the original Superman comic (it was many years ago now), and seem to remember one panel with the baby Supe holding up a big armchair by one leg.
And Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex is by Larry Niven, and is online at http://www.sj-coop.net/~svw/superman.html. (I’m sure that’s in violation of copyright, but there it is.)
rjk You are right. During the Crisis on Infinate Earth’s the DC Comics world was destroyed and changed. Most of the histories of the DC superheroes were radiclly changed. (i.e. no more red/gold/purple kryptonite, Kal El was the only survivor of the destruction of Krypton, etc.)
The modern settings shows Clark/Kal El/Superman gaining his powers over time during his late teens.
I should add to my sig: “Unofficial Superman Historian”
