But…but…it is!
Weird…apparently it’s spelled differently in different places. I’ve never seen the spelling you refer to in California.

I second the danish-go-rounds and the baked ramen. I also used to love green goddess salad dressing but haven’t seen it on shelves in years. I was delighted when I went to Souper Salad last week to see that they had it - but it was a modified carn starch-infused gloppy mess with no flavor.
I also miss Rice Krinkles cereal, but since my tastes have changed since I was a kid I probably wouldn’t be so in love with them now.
And a big AMEN on the sugar-laden salad dressings. I can understand maybe french and catalina, but italian?
I believe that Storck is a German company, and the candy that we’re referring to is spelled “Toffifee” there.
It’s OK. The American box ends in “ay”. We’ll know what you’re talking about.
Indeed! I’ve never seen a product name be spelled differently depending on where it’s being sold (short of the name being fully translated or something). Yet another example of why I love this place: I learn something new (here) every day.
I have, now that you mention it. When we were in England in 1997 I remember being amused by the fact that over there they have “Anadin” instead of “Anacin,” and “T. K. Maxx” instead of “T. J. Maxx.” No idea why, though.
Funny, I did not mean to railroad this thread by mentioning that Toffee candy. Funny enough, I misspelled it in my first post but linked to a site with the “correct” American spelling. Doh.
Thanks for all the tips and sitings, though. I have to search again! Now, has anyone seen Mountain Berry Punch Kool-Aid?
I already have people mailing me Choco-diles, so hopefully I can find the Toffifay/fee on my own. They post office HATES when my family puts a stamp and mail me those things. And they come to me kinda squashed or partially eaten.
No I we don’t actually mail them that way. I actually like our postman. Except when he brings me bills.
Coincidental timing actually, my sister and I are taking my mom out to play bingo tonight. She works for General Mills and called to see if we wanted anything from the company store. She’s picking me up a couple boxes of Boo-Berry (and whole host of other find General Mills Products.
) I know Boo-Berry tends to be a regional cereal (mostly in the Southeast, IIRC), but the three main monster cereals are still being made. (I’d have to ask about Fruity Yummy Mummy). My e-mail’s in my profile if you want me to send you a box.
We’ve got a vending machine where I work that sells it along with A&W rootbeer and Snapple.
They sell Cracklin’ Oat Bran in my local King Soopers (owned by Kroger). I’ve even bought some once or twice.
Green Giant used to make Brusell Sprouts in Cheese Sauce. They were in a boiling bag in the frozen food section. Man, I loved those things. If anyone is still able to obtain them I would gladly pay to get some.
Our little Mom & Pop store here in town has a shelf full of Campbell’s Pepper Pot Soup. If you really want some, send me an email and I’d be glad to send you some.
Jello Pudding Pops are back, at least around these parts…they taste just like I remember, too. Those of you wanting them, check with your local supermarket- some stores take requests for items not usually carried and will order the item if it’s available to them. Just a suggestion.
jealous Last time I’d looked it wasn’t being made any longer, now they brought it back but not here! I used to drink it all the time, it was my soda of choice.
We get Tahitian Treat out here. My dad LOVES it. I, not so much. I once used it as an ingredient in an Iron Chef parody for my anime club (Dormitory Iron Chef; I was Iron Stomach). Let’s just say that Tahitian Treat does not go well with pureed bananas and Tang. It may have involved Ramen.
It’s a hot one around here today. I’m feeling optimistic based on the replies of folks that said they are finding Jell-O Pudding Pops in their areas again.
I just did a quick search using this store locator and found a couple of grocery stores in the area that supposedly carry them.
I’ll be stopping at one after work. I’ve got my fingers crossed!
mmmmmmmm.
Chicken Tonight- it came in a jar in several varieties including French Herb, Cacciatore, Mushroom Garlic, etc… You browned the chicken, put it in a pot and poured this stuff over it. Wonderful over rice. (Also had a memorable commercial.)
They made Cacciatore longer than the other several flavors, but I think even it has gone the way of Dodo Helper now.
It seems like Chicken Tonight…like Chicken Tonight!!
Snapple soft drinks, particularly the Root Beer and the Cream Soda.
If you can’t find Toffifay/ee, send me an email, okay?
I thought it was: “I *feel *like Chicken Tonight, like Chicken Tonight!”
:smack: Of course!!
