When I saw The Others, years ago it reminded me of a short story I read as a kid or teen back in the 70s. I suspect it was probably even older, probably from the 40s, 50s, or 60s. I believe the protagonist visits their old home and encounters someone there that they remember as a ghost. Eventually the protagonist discovers in the twist ending that he/she is the actual ghost. Probably in one of those little paperback anthologies, like the ones Alfred Hitchcock attached his name to.
