I don’t think The Simpsons is any good anymore.
Is there any reason for me to feel optimistic, or at least, fail to feel pessimistic, about the upcoming movie?

It will give you a good reason to complain about how the Simpsons isn’t as good as it used to be.
Because the movie signals the coming of the end?
Depends on who wrote the movie. If it’s writers from the classic early seasons, then we should all be counting the days until it’s released. If the writers are those writing current episodes, well…
Even if I still liked the Simpsons, I’m not sure how wild I’d be about the movie. The formula that works well for a 22-minute episode may not be good for 90+ minutes.
They brought the ~40 best writers from the past, and they’ve been working at it for the last few years. There is reason to believe it will be good.
