If the board programmers are interested, I have a PHP code fragment I developed for a different message board (tForum, for the curious) which will effectively prevent accidental mulitposting. Post here or email me if interested. I realize they hate to hack the board code unless absolutly necessary, but multiposts get annoying pretty quickly.
They have said in the past that they won’t hack the board, period.
I’ve heard it stated that they simply prefer not to. Obviously they have, since this board behaves slightly differently than standard vB does.
The spoiler tag is a creation of the SDMB (implementation, not concept).
There you go.
In any case, I’m merely offerring a suggestion. They can take it or leave it at will, which is why I didn’t bother posting the code.
Yes, but AFAIK it isn’t a hack, just a setting; I think I’m right in saying that vB allows custom tags and that the spoiler tag is simply one of them.
What everyone says here is correct. Custom tags are not a hack of the source code and thus permissible.
Because custom additions are too much trouble to keep up and Jerry has enough on him as it is without adding to his burdens, we try to keep the system close to vB standard. This does mean we lose out on some good things, but that also means upgrades and reinstalls are easier too.
Would you be interested in offering to share your idea with the vB world at large? Many of the improvements to new versions of vB come from users and the company is very good about incorporating useful additions into the releases.
Again, thanks.

Thanks for the reply, Ike, but yikes! Those last comments seemed a bit out of line, if you ask me. Especially coming from someone who’s new this month and has just 5 posts under his belt. A word to the wise: that sort of thing is what the Pit is for.

Thank you to all the nice people that alerted me to this thread.
