If they are at school dance they should have enough chaperones around to ensure that there’s no heavy petting going on. The kids can wait until after the dance for that. And as the recent bra-less women thread demonstrated not everyone wears a bra. Going bra-less is not an accurate indicator of intent to engage in foreplay. Provided the girls shirts weren’t see-through I agree with Bob that it doesn’t make a difference.
Oh, and if any teacher had ever grabbed my shirt and pulled it down to look at my breasts no matter what the excuse I would have screamed sexual assault.
I remember one of my dates at a highschool dance had one of those strapless “I-need-to-superglue-my-cups-to-my-boobs” bras, and no one had a problem with that. And I went to a Catholic High School. Kinda makes me glad no one ever checked me, all those days I went free ballin’ back in the day.
Is it just me, or are school regulations getting more and more stupid as time goes on. I undertand stricter enforcement of no guns/knives/deadly weapons and such in schools, but lately, it seems people can be expelled for the simplest thing. Recently, a child was expelled from school because he was accused of saying something Satanic. There was no investigation into it until a week after the kid was kicked out, and it turns out, it wasn’t even that kid who was making the statements. And what does it matter if someone is talking stupid shit. It’s funny to see students persecuted for the stupidest infractions, and then to see teachers and administrators get away with shit like this. Maybe more people should consider home schooling.
Wow. I can’t believe I totally missed that pun the first time around. Especially considereing how humor in my family relies heavily on puns. Well, I feel stupid. Sorry.
I was thinking somewhere along these lines, but I still can’t quite wrap my mind around the idea that these girls would allow teachers to lift their skirts and inspect them for thong underwear. Being prematurely cynical, I have a hard time finding the majority of my teachers anything above marginally trustworthy.
What kind of policeman did they get for this dance, Andy Griffith? I’m amazed that the officer would only request that someone else speak to the Vice Principal about her behavior when something that is obviously very wrong was going on.
And people wonder why my generation distrusts authority.
I’d think the extra buoyancy would be advantageous…
Seriously, though, why are there so many instances of administrators not thinking at all about what they are doing? If they had problems last year, perhaps they should find a way to prevent the same problem this year without trying to get themselves sued…
Next they’ll be wearing thongs in a crowded theater.
And for those of you who are wondering what the hell the administration at this school is thinking, I’ll give you a little example of administrative prowess at work:
My wife teaches first grade. One of her students was recommended (by my wife) for her district’s remedial program. The kid took the tests and failed miserably. However, she also took an IQ test - and completely bombed it as well. Sounds like she needs help, right? Wrong - because her IQ is too low. According to the district, the kid is doomed to failure anyway - so why bother to help?
Crap like this sickens those of us on the outside and crushes the spirits of those who actually want to educate children. My wife always wanted to be a teacher. She’s finishing her third year and now desperatly wants to get the hell out.
Anyway, we now return you to your topic, already in progress…
ARGH. While I certainly will not dare to defend this woman’s atrocious behavior, I must throw out what seems to me to be a problem with the situation that no one seems to take seriously. Why are junior high girls/high school girls wearing thongs in the first place?
Free country, yada yada yada, thongs are popular right now, blah blah blah…who the FUCK buys their fourteen year old daughter THONG UNDERWEAR?
I cannot tell you how many parents I’ve had to call to ask, “If you’re going to allow your daughter to wear thong underwear, would you please make sure she wears pants high enough to cover them or a shirt long enough to meet her pants?”
Thong underwear disrupts class, distracts other students, and generally is too sexually provocative for high school. It’s their right to wear them, and the administrator was completely out of line, but the whole thong phenomenon truly does trouble me. High school girls need to focus on their schoolwork, not on how many guys are getting a hard-on just by seeing their panties.
I agree with Shrew, these poor innocent kids embarassed forever because a teacher snuck a peak at their underclothers before they went into the dance to show off their underwear voluntarily(Freaking)
While the VP should have addressed the issue of inappropriate attire before the dance and not while the young adults are in line, the kids in question need to rediscover the notion of modesty. If they want to act like porn stars they should do it outside of school activities.
