Does anyone know about any safety studies with regard to the Marlex mesh? It’s a polypropelene mesh which the use in inguinal hernia repair, as well as other surgical procedures?
Well, they’ve been using it for years, so I’m guessing it’s as safe as anything else they use in surgery. There is always, always the risk that someone, somewhere will have an adverse reaction to something, but the risk has to be pretty damned low for them to use it in routine procedures like hernia repairs.
