Surprise--I disagree with Marley's modding!!

It’s kinda a hobby of his. Just look at all his other ATMB threads.

I don’t think that he made a “big deal” out of it. I suspect that he was voicing concern about unneeded and overblown projections of what his motive was.

I did notice that PRR admitted “no big deal.” I can’t know his motives or can anyone else for bringing it to our attention. But keep in mind that what one person is sensitive to, another would just give it a shrug. So much depends on the backstory of the person. Those who grew up with constant criticism are more likely than others to be very sensitive. Maybe it is appropriate that PRR was annoyed by Marley’s pointing it out. Who are we to decide if the expression of his emotions was inappropriate?

Marley, my question went unanswered about whether or not it is appropriate to use the expression “you Christians” followed by something derogatory. I would appreciate a response. The same is true of “you women” followed by an insult. You could easily convert me to your way of thinking on this piece of writing and moderation.

If I felt the “you Christians” or “you women” comment was directed at another poster or posters, yes, I would probably step in to remind the poster of the rules. You can make negative comments about all kinds of groups of people, but if they are expressed more as insults to other posters than as generalizations, I often moderate those posts - because even if the generalization is allowed, there’s a good chance another poster will read the comment as a direct insult.
