Do you really think they put that much thought into it? Listen to them talk. They “had no idea” that Trump was going to do all the things people like us spent months, even years, warning them that he would do. They listened only to MAGA propaganda, and believed it whole-heartedly.
Even now, they’re still saying, “I still believe we need to get rid of all that fraud&waste!”, without pausing for even a second to question if they’ve also been lied to about the amount of fraud&waste that exists in the government.
This is as far as I’ll bother reading in this thread because it says it all. I’ll embellish just a little to say that any person who didn’t vote AGAINST Trump in any of the last three elections, regardless of their reason/excuse, is disgusting and despicable.
I disagree in part. I agree he is a grenade, but that is not incompatible with the idea he’s a puppet - behind every grenade there’s someone deciding roughly where to throw it, and who gets first aid afterward etc.
I’m not an expert on political puppets throughout history, but I suspect plenty have had at least some personal agency.
He’s a puppet to the extent that he’s indirectly manipulable to a degree that is useful to his masters. He does pretty much exactly what Putin wants. He’s doing pretty much everything those behind Project 2025 want, while his grenades keep everyone distracted.
There’s a good chance they also thought “My workplace doesn’t have any of the BAD kind of unelected bureaucrats. We’ll all be fine. Well, except for that bitch Marjorie in Accounting. Would you believe she whined about us going for drinks at Chili’s after work, until we gave in and decided to go to Applebee’s (which is in the complete opposite direction from my house)? Yeah, get rid of her, Elon!)”
we get Susan Collins being most concerned about a paper mill on the Canadian border
“We have for example a major paper mill in Northern Maine right on the border that gets its pulp from Canada.”
“That mill alone, which is by far the biggest employer in the region, employs 510 people directly. I’ve talked to the owner of that mill, the imposition of a 25-percent tariff could be devastating,” she warned.
“Hi, I’m a typical Republican candidate. I share your beliefs that all politicians are crooks and liars who are only working in a fraudulent system for their own personal advantage. I’m running for political office. Vote for me.”
I have mentioned numerous times here that I voted for Harris. Even if I agreed with him (I don’t. I’m not a MAGA) I refuse as an American to vote for an insurrectionist for President.
