Surprises coming for voters for the Leopards-Eating-Faces Party

I really am holding out hope (however slim) we’ll see Musk denaturalized, deported, and disgorged of his wealth before the term is out.

You forgot “disappeared”. We may well get there for enemies of the trumperor.

Jeebus, can you imagine the stimulus checks?

If Republicans played fair (don’t laugh! stick with me here…) and evenly split his MuskMoney among Americans … shit, someone wanna do the math?

A little over a thousand bucks a person.

I could use a thousand bucks…

A thousand? That’s pretty good, especially if it’s per person (and I suppose it is). That comes out to thousands of dollars for families. Republicans (always say) they love families! The more nuclear, the bigger the payday.

Or payload, anyway.

I’ll take a thousand bucks!

And divvy it up amongst trans rights organizations and reproductive rights organizations.

Krugman: Maga is bad for business and the business community needs to wake up.

One odd feature of U.S. politics is that businesspeople, especially small business owners, always seems to believe that they will do better under Republicans, even though history shows that business does better under Democrats. Small business owners supported Trump in the last election, despite ample evidence that he would be very bad for business.

And now they’re getting a rude awakening.

Let’s talk for a second about price controls.

Anna Paulina Luna has quit the Freedom Caucus after they refused to vote for her resolution allowing new moms to proxy vote.

Yeah. It’s been a longstanding delusion for decades, despite all the data showing otherwise. It’s just been a matter of faith that the Republicans are better for business.

I don’t really have a problem with her proposal, but I have a problem with her. So, suck it up, AP Lunatic

That being said, the response by the other members - if stated accurately- is kind of cunty. And even more so coming from the (faux) pro life, pro family party.

Nor do I, but apparently she expected that DEI is good and acceptable when she’s the beneficiary of it.

“I mean, I’m fine with them doing that to everyone else…”

Oh it’s just what I’d expect from them. “You should just stay home taking care of the family full-time, woman. WE will do the work.”

(But, really, I notice the GOP are SO hung up on the notion that everyone must show up in person to the job/polling place/etc. , no matter what burden it places. Almost pathologically.)

And yeah, sorry, Ana Paulina, but in the eyes of all those others in the FC you are a DEI hire, especially if you are asking for accomodation.

A Trump supporter (I won’t go so far as to say MAGA) acquaintance of mine recently sold his business and retired. He’s a smart guy but I’m curious if he knows how lucky he was to sell his machine shop business, which imports tons of steel from out of the country, and exports plenty of the finished products back out, just before the election.

Also, he’s voted for the person that’s putting his (same sex) marriage on the line. A marriage that he had to have done in another state because it wasn’t recognized in Wisconsin at the time, under Scott Walker, who he presumably voted for.

All these “businessmen” care about is lower taxes and loosened regulations. It so upsets them to their core to have to pay taxes, or to forego one red cent in compliance, for the good of someone else that nothing else matters. It makes their own lives less pleasant, or even puts them at risk? Still worth it to hold on to every last penny. Because if you have money you can work around that.

Consider also, that for very high levels of “businessmen” (oligarchs) sending the economy into the tank every now and then is actually good for them. It gives them a chance to gorge themselves on the margins, buying up property and industry, hiring up trained workers, for Pennie’s on the dollar, and then reap the rewards when the economy rebounds. Kind of like how privatization is bad for the public but great for the billionaires who get to fill the void at an inflated cost and eat the excess.

The trick is in obfuscating and convincing small business owners that when Republicans talk about all the great things they’ll do for business, it means them. Unfortunately, given their base is most interested in oppression and bigotry (of people who aren’t them, of course), it doesn’t really take much obfuscation or convincing. Just a fig leaf, really. Fuck all of 'em.

“With reduced staffing, there is the potential for fewer ‘eyes on the storm,’” said Joe Sullivan, a Kentucky Emergency Management meteorologist who also worked for 13 years as a NWS warning coordination meteorologist. Sullivan said he relies on information from the NWS and NOAA Storm Prediction Center in his current job.

I wonder how many MAGA voters won’t get warned in time due to these cuts.

No worries. If a tornado takes them to God, that was His plan all along.
