For comparison, the Baathists established minority rule in Iraq with a percentage of allies much smaller than the 37% aligned to Trump (per the link you shared). If you consider Baath party members in combination with the wider population of non-Baath Sunnis, plus temporary allies of convenience among the Kurds and others, you can stretch to 25%, maaaaaybe 30% of the country.
And despite this, the Baathists maintained control for 35-40 years (depending on how you perceive the seesaw in the early 60s), and their rule was ended only as a consequence of external invasion.

If you aren’t in an ex-pat community the locals will consider you an American with all the baggage that entails and you can easily find yourself isolated and despised. What would you have me do? I’ve been called hysterical here for warning about the rise of fascism in America. We’ve clearly been marching towards this point for decades. I also think that America is an incredibly dangerous force in the world, one that prevents action on climate change and supports genocide. The world is better off if it collapses.

I am reminded of one of the arguments against allowing a lot of immigrants into the US. If they don’t stay in their home countries, how are things going to change in those countries?

But I don’t think America is worth fighting for, in fact I think it is a grave threat to humanity. America is racist and corrupt. Children are regularly gunned down in classrooms and no one does anything because white panic means that everyone gets to have whatever gun they want to kill black people if they feel the need. America is just awful and full of awful people who regularly do awful things and say awful things; they’re incredibly stupid. There are statues to Confederates lining streets and it didn’t even occur to most Americans to question that.
Trump happened because America is full of really awful people who chose this. What would I be fighting for? The closest historical example is the USSR, you all are encouraging me to fight the continuation of the Soviet Union and its 1990.
