Surprises coming for voters for the Leopards-Eating-Faces Party

Yep, my state of Michigan, despite going to trump in 2024, is usually at least tipping toward blue in most elections. But drive through any even marginally rural area, and the trump flags, campaign signs still standing, and even big display posters are everywhere. It never stops being amazing to me how the people who are most hurt by trump are the most fanatically in favor of him.

I know, I know, ‘sparrows roasting on curtain rods’ and all that.

That seems cheap even for the typical ‘Made in China’ trump merch. Are those hats made in North Korea or something, I wonder?

Probably knockoffs with little, or rather no, money going to Trump and going to Chinese grifters, instead. Aliexpress is run and hosted out of China, after all.

So, the moral choice, then.

Mostly it’s culture wars. They want it all to go away and 1950 to return. Idjit trump hasn’t really promised to do that, but he has mostly shut down the cacophony of left-leaning noise that used to appear in the media.

So to them is seems like it’s working.

Bit ambivalent about it.

On the one hand, none of the money is going to Trump and a bunch of idiots now have less money to waste on him. On the other, it’s still going to grifters looking to make a cheap buck off unsuspecting victims.

But yeah, on the balance, it’s probably the better of the outcomes?

IOW:

Yo’ pays yo’ money and yo’ picks yo’ criminal.

I’ll pick the criminals who aren’t fucking up the entire world. Like I said, the moral choice.

And now there are more choices than ever!

If that ain’t progress, I don’t know what is! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Okay, I really DON’T know what is…

I’m sure you were pleased to see the huge swing to blue this week in the special election for the state senate seat, when Chedwick Greene beat his opponent by like 20 points in what was supposed to be a very competitive race. Let’s hope that momentum carries over into November.

Agree completely.

And thinking about it, are the Chinese even criminals? Is making knock-offs and selling them on the internet even a crime in China?

I’m also wondering similarly along those lines. ‘MAGA’ and ‘Make America Great Again’ are both trademarked by DJT. IANAL, but presumably selling unauthorized merch with those slogans runs afoul of our trademark laws.

But, as has been stated, better the money go to those folks rather than to the pockets of the criminal-in-chief.

Yes, results like that, as well as the blue victories in recent special elections in other states are encouraging, but it’s somewhat offset by news like this:

I know it’s largely a factor of lots of money being dumped into the trump-backed candidates’ campaigns to prop them up, but it’s still discouraging.

Googling it is a crime in China. It’s just also really profitable.

So the MAGAs should approve!

Also only the most loyal party members/enthusiastic voters showing up for primary elections.

I expect Indiana will now re-draw the election districts in accordance with Dear Leader’s whims. >sigh<

Living in a red part of a red county in a red state, it’s interesting that there’s very little Trump/MAGA signage, even though it’s primary season. Republican candidates for Congress and the state legislature have signs that include an outline of the state colored in red, but no indication they’re Trumpites.

Maybe the bloom is off the pumpkin a bit, so to speak.

When you peddle racism to get ahead, you have a scorpion on your back.

He is in no position, has no right to be complaining about me calling him a slave when he has absolutely no direct descendant of slavery in his family. He’s from Panama. He’s from Belize. His dad’s from Jamaica.

Fortunately, none of those countries had slavery.

[editorial note: all three of those countries had chattel slavery]

Wow, really giving that “Born-again Christian” concept a workout!
