Surprises coming for voters for the Leopards-Eating-Faces Party

Thanks. I meant to say I pass a Friends school that has a rainbow flag almost every day.

But my experience with Quakers is very limited and I appreciate your information.

What kind of flag does it have on the other days?

That idiot was finally told how dumb was spelled. He shared that with the entire world.

79 years old. Did not know how dumb was spelled. He is sort of like pornography. I know it when I see it.

I also recognize morons when I hear them talk.

Here’s a useful page on LGBTQ+ topics from Friends General Conference (FGC), a North American association of unprogrammed Hicksite Friends:

I understand “Friends” in this context. Can you help us all with a sentence or two on “unprogrammed” and “Hicksite”?

Please don’t, because it has nothing to do with this thread.

Answers to both can be found via the Friends’ Wikipedia page.

If they enabled CC on the West Wing teevees, his big fat head would explode. Wednesday! Column! Thumb! Island! Psychology!..kersplat.

That presupposed he reads well enough, fast enough, to keep up with CC. That assumption is unsupported by the evidence. We’ve seen many instances where he’s been expected to read aloud something without advance preparation, in which he often struggles to read. Even in cases like a prepared speech on a teleprompter, which he can practice ahead of time, we’ve seen him get off-rhythm and lose his place, and struggle to figure out what the next line is.

All evidence points to him being semiliterate at best.

It would be great fun to give Trump a truth serum and ask him questions. What’s the last book you read? See Spot Run.

Even if a real, effective truth serum did exist, I doubt it would work very well, if at all, on trump.

Since he’s not just a liar, he’s a bullshitter-- he says whatever comes to mind that he thinks will benefit him in the moment, with absolutely no regard as to whether it’s the truth or a lie, or something that’s contradicting something else he said recently. It’s doubtful he even knows what the ‘truth’ of anything is.

Yup, it’s whatever he says it is. That is an egomaniac.

I think that’s actually a sociopath.

Paul Krugman today on leopards and the faces they eat:

Remarkably, however, rural white voters are no longer behaving like non-rural Republican voters. They are almost as negative on the economy as the population as a whole, with only 32% of rural whites approving of Trump’s handling of the economy, and 68% disapproving. Trump has made the rural economy so bad that reality has overridden Trump voters’ usual tendency to make excuses for him.

The unavoidable reality is that things are really very bad in rural America. Moreover, the devastation hitting the heartland is squarely a consequence of Trump’s actions and not, like the Biden inflation of 2021-22, a result of forces outside presidential control.

Why, then, did rural Americans vote to return Trump to office? Obviously, culture war issues and racism played important roles. But it’s also clear in hindsight that rural whites weren’t willing to see their livelihoods destroyed in order to stick it to the liberals by voting for Trump. Instead, they fell for a fantasy, believing that by voting for Trump they could simultaneously own the libs and do well financially.

Instead, they have been betrayed: far from supporting a conservative vision of rural life, Trump is destroying their livelihoods with his vandalism.

Leopards to farmers: “Please come to dinner–have a seat–and pass the A-1 Sauce…”

Wait, are you trying to make the case that the Wisconsin farmers during trump’s recent visit did not appreciate his expounding on the continuing trumpification of D.C., including the now famous, important chart comparing the length of the reflecting pool to the height of random buildings? Don’t those farmers have their priorities straight?

What do you expect from a bunch of uncultured, country bumpkin hayseeds? The reflecting pool paint job is wasted on them.
:farmer:t4:

I saw a film clip that the above photo was taken from, of trump talking at a table with the tractor in the background. To trump’s left, just out of frame of the photo, was a farmer seated at the table, for media op reasons I guess, to show trump’s ‘solidarity’ with farmers.

At the moment of the film clip I saw, trump was going on about gold-plating D.C. statues, and the farmer to his left made sort of a ‘move it along’ hand-wave motion, as if to say “I’m not sure what the exact fuck you’re going on about, but can we maybe move onto the subject of when fertilizer and fuel prices will drop, or maybe even the possibility of expanding foreign markets for farm produce, ferfucksake??”

I don’t think you’d even need to do that. I really believe that Trump is one of those people (narcissist) that would admit to something if you simply accused him of not being able to do it. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if, when Trump first started denying any connection with Epstein, a reporter said something like “That makes sense, they probably didn’t want you coming out to the island anyways”, he would’ve admitted it just to prove the reporter wrong.

Similarly, and I say this as someone who’s been using ADHD meds (and other stimulants) for a long, long time, double up his meds before an interview and he won’t be able to stop admitting things. Come to think of it, maybe that’s why he’s always asleep in meetings. Maybe they lower his dose so he doesn’t stick his foot in his mouth.

And with that, I’ve mostly given up on hoping reporters (including ones working for non-RW media) will push back when he lies. And, since they won’t push back, I think they should lean into it. Egg him on, ask him questions the way an AI answers questions, make him think that you think he’s just the most amazing person to walk the earth. See how far off into fantasy land he goes with his answers and ideas for the future.
He’ll love talking to reporters that do that. Meanwhile, the RW media will be doing their best to sane wash what he says while all the people that treat him like a modern day Jim Jones will hang off his every word.

Hard to tell for sure, but that looks like a 1940s Model A or B Johnny Popper. Just like trump’s America: 70 years behind the times, inefficient, old, and putting along. Not one modern technology improvement on it. Should be coal powered for maximum on-pointness.

…just like trump :smirk:
