Stumbled across just now on Bluesky. ETA: The Bluesky poster copied it from Buzzfeed: 12 People Who Regret Their Trump Vote
Oh, they can just homeschool them.
They probably would, if they could do it with public school money.
I feel sorry for the kids, but the parents get no sympathy from me.
Collateral damage.
Surprise, magaboomers! The richest man in human history wants to take away your only source of income.
They’re begging us to do something so their kid can keep their accommodations.
I’d love to hear the answers when the 5th Grade Teacher asks, ‘Like what? I already voted for the person who wanted to protect your children.’
For an accurate depiction of life in the USMC, see Generation Kill. It’s also available as a book.
“A Rolling Stone reporter, embedded with The 1st Recon Marines chronicles his experiences during the first wave of the American-led assault on Baghdad in 2003.” Recon Marines are the USMC’s equivalent of Navy SEALs.
You will see that most of them actually care about it when civilians are harmed. They want to be able to think they are doing what’s right. At the end there is a group interview with several of the actual Marines who lived the tale. They all agree that it is very well done and truthful, but one man did say it treated the officers harshly. I must say it’s hard to believe that so many incompetent officers could be found in one unit.
Yeah, IDK about that. The story it was based on might have been written about Marines, but it wasn’t by Marines, and from what I’ve heard (and, frankly, just inferred after having watched the miniseries from the perspective of a near-contemporary naval officer) it shows.
Not that it’s bad storytelling, but a documentary it ain’t.
It makes some Marine enlisted guys and one particular JO look good. Unsurprisingly, the Marine enlisted guys think it’s great.
I also think it has fuck all to do with how the military would respond to being deployed domestically. Except inasmuch as it provides evidence (like the entire Iraq War) that members of the military will, happily or otherwise, follow fucking ridiculous orders with perhaps some weight on their conscience, but following orders nevertheless.
I was never in combat, but from the perspective of a former Marine, it reproduces the general atmosphere perfectly.
That may be the case, but what about the marine in this story:
The podcast is the first part about an enlisted marine that took part in January 6th, and said he kind of just happened to be there and did nothing, which, based on camera footage, was not true. The story is quite interesting and honestly rather scary when it comes to the thinking of the people in the armed forces.

Fuck it. This is starting to feel like beating a dead horse.
It’s beginning to dawn on Republicans that mass deportations may hit red states and counties the hardest. They’re seeking dispensation, and suggesting Trump should focus on immigrants in blue areas.
Trump voters: We need to take care of veterans, not migrants!
Elmo:. lol let’s cut the VA budget to zero
Ending funding for federal prisons? Well, of course! If the feds no longer have prisons, then they can’t send Trump to one!
I’m sure a mysterious new contractor called JailX will step in to take over the prison system. No need to ask where their funding came from.
Rent from the tenants—er, I mean inmates—maybe?
Oh, you can’t afford the rent? I’m sure you could work it off
Chain gangs will solve the labor shortage created by deporting the illegals!
…your solution is to get some people to labor on chain gangs after you deport yet other people, when you could just swap out deportation for that chain gang solution to begin with?
