The Atlantic did a whole article on this:
Trump is About to Betray His Rural Supporters
Tariffs, deportations, cuts to Medicaid and education are going to be a gut-punch for them.

Good. Let them face the consequences of their actions. I have zero fucks to give for anyone who voted for Trump and discovers just how stupid that was.
Whatever empathy and sympathy I have is for those who didn’t contribute to the clusterfuck to come.
They’re so stupid, they’ll never realize they’ve been betrayed. Their lives will get worse and they’ll just blame liberals.
You’re probably right, for most if not all, but they’ll still suffer, as they should. FAFO.
As long as the blacks are suffering more, they’re happy.
Provided they can still blame the Blacks and the Browns and any oher non-pasty toned people for their suffering at the hands of their idol, they’ll be happy.
They will, and in states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota, they’ll blame the Democratic governors and legislators for the shitty economy Trump gives us, and then elect Republicans.
Is that before or after they come home to roost?
We’re weeks away from, “Yes, the leopard ate my face, but that’s what I wanted all along!”
I’m hoping the House and Senate completely roll over for Trump and they pass all the awful things he has been promising to do. In my opinion, we have about two years left to stop this disaster – the next House and Senate elections. If things go badly enough, with no excuses, maybe, just maybe poor, minority, and rural voters will finally understand what they’ve voted for.
If not, the country is fucked, so whether it’s fucked now or after two years isn’t that important.
You know, that idea has real merit.
I guess it’s easy for me to say – I’m a financially comfortable SWM, so whatever happens, I will very likely be fine. If, say, the ACA is repealed, millions of people will lose their insurance, but I’ll be fine.

They have no floor and they will never, ever admit they made a mistake. Not even when they watch their children die from preventable diseases and climate change wipe out their homes. They’d rather we all die than admit they were wrong.
Sadly so. They will be told, and accept, that this is all because of all the Liberal actions of the past decades and if only we had left things as they were in The Good Old Days™ everything would be fine, and DJT tried to fix it but it was too late. That it would have happened anyway, no matter who was in charge “but at least he fought it”.
Or they’ll say it’s just God’s will.
Well, then, the country is well and truly fucked.
I’m already seeing that at Breitbart. People trolling them with “This is going to cause inflation, something you’ve been complaining about for three years” are being responded to with “Totally worth it.”
I agree with what others have said. The Republicans have developed a winning cycle. They get elected and take office. They do things which hurt the average voter, including those who voted for Republicans (while benefitting the one percent). Those voters get upset because their lives are worse off. The Republican media tells them that somebody else is to blame for all their problems and the Republicans will solve those problems. The voters go back and vote for Republicans again.
If Republican voters looked around and admitted that Republican politicians have been screwing them over, they would also be admitting that they have been idiots all along.

See, this is why I think we should back off on the raw milk issue, and let them drink as much of that as they want. At least the diseases they die from probably won’t be transmissible just by breathing on the rest of us.

I agree in theory, but the problem is that not everyone is knowledgeable on the subject. Lots of people will see Raw Milk in the store, have no idea of the politics behind it or have any reason to think it might not be safe to drink and end up getting sick.
It’s like agreeing with them to get rid of business health inspections. Sure, people will get sick and die which will prove why inspections are necessary, but it won’t only be them.
On the other hand, if they get raw milk legalized, hopefully they’ll be the first ones drinking it and included in the first wave of illnesses that will, hopefully, mean the laws get put back in place before it gets more popular.
Not only will it be totally worth it, but we’ll get to hear about business cycles and how the President doesn’t really have that much control over the global economy. Heck, they will even find research papers from liberal economists saying the exact same thing, so they’re not to blame for the recession, even the libruls agree!
The real problem is government spending is too high, they’ll tell us, and the best way to cut government spending is to lower taxes! With lower taxes, the typical taxpayer (that is, You!) will have more money to spend so there will be less need for these government programs. A Stable Genius move in 4-D chess if I ever saw one!
