As to eligibility for election, not eligibility to hold office. That’s why it’s an open question.
I read
To mean that if someone has been elected twice, they may not subsequently serve out part of someone else’s term.
Well, then, no need to worry. For that scheme to work, he would have to accept being “only” vice president, even if for only five minutes. Never going to happen.
I think Elon Musk and RFK will be surprised when they can’t get Trump to return their calls. I won’t be.
I predict that Putin will launch an incursion into a NATO country sometime in the next four years. Maybe not right away, but he’s going to want to stress test the US commitment to NATO article 5 while Trump is in power.
And I hate to go there, because it’s the third rail on this message board, but I think that Gaza negotiations will break down completely and I think Netanyahu will cut power, water and food deliveries to Gaza as soon as Trump is in office - maybe sooner, there has already been a major setback in negotiations and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it happened a few days after the election.
I’m basing this opinion on Bob Woodward’s latest book, which goes into how eager Netanyahu was to impose a total siege on Haza - no power, food or water- and how hard the US worked to dissuade him from doing so.
Granted, this happened in the weeks after October 7th and maybe they’ve cooled down the anger that fueled this position……I sincerely hope this is the case but I don’t think there’s a chance in hell that Trump’s election will be anything but horrible for the people of Gaza.

shall be elected
If it said “hold office” I would agree with you, but it doesn’t. And IIRC there were Congressmen that were elected that were not of the minimum age when elected but took office when they were so there is precedence that the requirements to be elected to office and to hold office may not be the same.

Nope. After the EVs are counted but before inauguration the President-elect declines the office or mysteriously dies. 20th Amendment Section 3

Please explain how Trump gets on the ballot on all 50 states as a result of people sitting on their hands.
Please explain how both houses of Congress certify those votes just by sitting on their hands.
Please explain how SCOTUS says “Yes, we’re just ignoring the 22nd Amendment” by sitting on their hands.
Hundreds if not thousands of people have to actively do things to make this happen, illegitimate things that would have to survive slow-walking court cases to make this happen.
Please think this through.
I think Elon Musk and RFK will be surprised when they can’t get Trump to return their calls. I won’t be.
In anticipation of these glib and inane knee-jerk responses,
Well, I was being “glib and inane” because the constant and steady refrain of “the constitution won’t let him do bad things” was sounding glib and inane. If enough people choose to disregard it, it will be just another old historical piece of parchment.

“How many divisions does the Constitution command?”
"How many divisions does the Constitution command?”
All of them.
The following is the Oath of Commissioned Officers
I ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;
All of them.
Until they replace the military leadership with Trumpists, as they are saying they will.
Even those will be bound by that oath.
They may act in violation of it, but the oath is still there
I am glad I am not a senior US military officer now. This is going to be a very severe test and it will only take a few percent of officers turning trumpist to turn DoD inside out. DoD has no institutional history of significant dissention among its members and will be largely lost trying to figure out what to do with disloyal members and units.
Remember that most of the MAGA line for the last 8+ years has been that the Dems are unconstitutionally destroying the USA with their federal overreach and never-ending assault on fundamental freedoms. Meanwhile it’s the Rs, and most especially trump himself, who are the bulwark of defense of our mighty and perfect 1770s-appropriate constitution. Or so the propaganda spew insists all day every day.
To the degree some officer has spent 8-12 years drinking that firehose of Kool-aid they may well most sincerely believe that defending trump & MAGAtism is defending the Constitution.
Even those will be bound by that oath.
They may act in violation of it, but the oath is still there
And? They won’t care. Not even slightly.
They swear allegiance to it, but the commands are interpreted by High Priest Trump the 47th.
What if Secretary Hegseth requires a new oath, swearing allegiance to Trump?
I am guessing that this is the part they didn’t dare write down in Project 2025: Trump NEEDS a war. He can’t really get away with declaring martial law on faked reports of “Antifa” attacks going on; only a tiny portion of even Fox-only viewers would believe it.
Why can’t he? What would happen if Trump declared that the ACLU was a terrorist organization and he was imposing martial law?
Would he be impeached? No. Trump literally tried to overthrow the government and the Republicans in Congress wouldn’t impeach him for that.
And if he’s not impeached and remains in office? The Republicans in the Supreme Court have ruled that Trump is immune to all criminal charges as long as he’s in office.

I’ve said this before: America, especially Americans that can’t be bothered to vote, has given the Orange Shitbag a blank check to do whatever he wants.
He now has BOTH houses of Congress and The Supreme Court on his side.
The Orange Shitbag doesn’t have the wits or the vision to really trash American Democracy and the Constitution (or ethics, integrity and honor), but his “adivisors” sure do.
