That 3% of the Arab vote went to Jill Stein. Just as bad as Trump voters.
He may try to adapt the Elon approach of replying with a poop emoji.
A former poster is radically Left Wing. I think the poster voted for Stein. Of course, the poster lives in California, so any vote against Harris was meaningless. I tried to tell the poster eight years ago that a vote for anyone other than the Democratic candidate was a vote for Trump. I no longer discuss politics with this person, and the person is not included on most of my FB posts.
What I want to know is: Did those inspectors general show up for work today? By your analysis they had every right to. You’re supposed to disobey illegal orders, right?
Trump feels strongly that Congress is the Duma. Irrelevant and immaterial.
(my bolding)
The ‘power of the purse’ is Congress’s signature power. If it’s gone, they are the Duma.
So, just how many of Trump’s nominees want to use their offices to do clearly un-Constitutional things?
All of them.
Your next silly question?
I read somewhere, either Bluesky or another SDMB thread, that some IGs showed up for work and found themselves locked out of their offices. Couldn’t even get any personal possessions.
Americans are learning the real meaning of “purge”.
For Trump voters, I anticipate it’s binge on bullshit, purge in pain.
Some Americans are. But then again, maybe not. Because the ones who even know this is happening already knew the danger Trump posed. The people who (purportedly) didn’t know the danger he posed are watching Fox News (at best), which I strongly suspect isn’t covering this at all. Or if it is, it’s covering it as a righteous draining of the swamp to make liberal snowflakes cry.
Good one! But they’re not in the military. General in their title is an adjective, not a military rank.
More like the Supreme Soviet.
Sometimes I wanna check out Fox to see what their reportage is on Trump’s various tramplings so far, but I…just…can’t…
My goat will be just too gotten.
At the gym there is typically a tv tuned to Fox News that I sometimes watch while I’m on the treadmill to get a sense of their spin. When I was there yesterday, Ingram was presenting it as a totally normal justified thing that Trump needed to do in order to get spending under control and the Democratic party was just in a huff because it affected their pet projects. No mention at all of the illegality of it or that it affected major programs.
Get spending under control? Has Ingram been in a coma the last six months and missed all the things Donny wants to spend money on?
If George W. Bush has taught us anything it’s that Republican spending never costs anything.
DesertRoomie is a demonstrator at Costco and yesterday she was offering samples of Kirkland Columbian Supremo coffee. When an older woman in a MAGA hat got a sample she couldn’t resist poking a little.
“Better buy a couple cans. The price is going up soon.”
“Why would it do that?”
“Because Trump got mad at Columbia and slapped a 25% tariff on all their imports including coffee. It’ll go up to 50% next week.”
“Tariff? What’s that?”
“A tax paid by the importer at the port of entry. Naturally, Costco will pass that on to the customer by raising the price – they’re not going to eat the increase.”
“Trump wouldn’t do that!”
“It’s been in the news all week.”
“I never heard it,” and she stalked off all miffed.
Colombia eventually caved on that one, chalking up a justly-deserved win for Fucking Asshole (a/k/a “Big Stick, Tiny Dick”) Diplomacy:
For now.
