The returned migrants are now being treated with the dignity every human being deserves. That’s all they asked for, and now that those conditions are being met, they are returning to their normal policy of allowing repatriation flights to land.
The only difference is that it’s a Colombian flight taking them back, because Americans are incapable of treating human beings with dignity.

For the internal domestic politics of Colombia, it’s definitely some kind of a win.
But from my perch? Eh. Not so much.
It’s certainly going to be played as a win for Trump, but you don’t actually think it was, do you?
Colombia has been accepting these flights routinely for years, and only denied Trump’s flights because he wanted people loaded like cargo into a military plane instead of onto a passenger plane like we’ve always done before. Trump throws a ridiculous fit threatening ridiculous tariffs before Colombia solves the problem all on their own.
From what I can tell from the few times I catch something on Fox or other alt-right media, it’s all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows now that Trump’s Golden Age of America has dawned, except for the messes Biden left behind that still need cleaning up.
A Fool’s Golden Age works on at least two different levels.
I think each scored an optics win for their respective domestic constituents.
It also seems there’s a precedent for the claim that migrants being ‘returned’ (by the US) to Colombia (and elsewhere) were not being treated with basic human dignity – this time, under Biden (and before):
So, I tend to look at this one as less substantive and more performative.
I don’t really know much about Petro, but Trump? He’s an asshole. I won’t defend his actions without damned good justification – justification that this one sorely lacks

Well, Nicole, I’m glad you exercised your right to vote. People died for thos rights and 45% of us don’t even bother. But maybe next time you’ll apply even a shred of intelligence toward who you vote for. I actually did that a day or two ago (checked their website) for precisely this reason. Which is how I know they’re not covering it—at least not prominently. The grant funding freeze and ensuing Medicaid chaos, for example, was all over CNN, MSNBC, and the like, but nothing on on Fox News.
Anyway, I did it from my work computer so I wouldn’t get the evil cookies on my own computer and start getting White Christian Nationalist targeted ads.
They have Fox News on in the breakroom sometimes at work, so I catch 20-30 minute chunks of it every now and then. Over the past week or so, the ass-kissing has been so blatant, that even the heads of North Korean state media would probably tell them “this is a little much.”
Meanwhile, the MAGAs are living in blissful ignorance of the shit hitting the fan. When it finally splatters them they’ll be whining they had no warning.
And eager to accept any Democrat/liberal offered to blame Trump’s incompetency on.
This is an insurmountable obstacle we face in the battle for reality here in America. I have no idea what the solution is but until this is somehow dealt with we are never going to recover.
It’s two different perceived realities. One for the hardcore MAGAs where Trump is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to this country and can do no wrong, and everything liberal is evil; the other is where Trump is an incompetent grifter who only wants to enrich and benefit himself at the expense of the country and fuck over anyone who doesn’t kiss his ass or is the wrong color/sex/religon/orientation/nationality.
I think there are even Trump supporters that know the grifting con man reality is true but place their own interests, like tax cuts or deregulation, over the country’s. They seem a little more aware of the face-eating leopard (and it’s a calculated risk for them) than the first type of supporter, who not only doesn’t see the leopard coming for their face but doesn’t even know it exists, despite the fact that the party they voted for is called the “Leopards Eating Faces Party”.

You really wouldn’t believe how many MAGA I’ve met who simply don’t believe that. I’ve shown them cites and they STILL don’t believe it.
How do you have a functioning society when a substantial portion simply decides what they want to be true, and spends all their time making Youtube videos telling each other what you want to hear?
