Hope in one hand, shit in the other, see which fills up first.
Why does Trump need to be “very careful”? What does Diaz-Balart think will happen?

Why does Trump need to be “very careful”? What does Diaz-Balart think will happen?
What’s he supposed to say?
“We got played, and you should never have voted for him or for me”?
Yeah, I won’t be holding my breath for that.
Why, he will lose the support of the Hispanic community!
I have to admit, I’ve gone full cynic. I hope everyone who voted Trump gets exactly what they asked for. Eggs are now at a record high, and by a lot. I will point this out to every MAGA I meet.
Look at the 10 year
Yeah but it’s no longer the president’s fault.
Now it’s the fault of…I dunno, diverse chickens?
ETA: I’m aware that in neither the last or current administration does the president have much to do with the egg price, only if they affect indirect things like farm labor or how the bird flu epidemic is being tackled.
I’m all for big cats snacking on the faces of the people what voted for 'em, but what does the Trump administration have to do with the high price of eggs?
The same thing Biden had to do with inflation.
Fortunately the Trump administration is on track to < check notes > remove all agencies and regulations relating to both food standards and safety and public health, so bird flu should be dealt with swiftly via the “don’t test for it and don’t ever mention it” method of pandemic management.
In actual fact, nothing.
But he campaigned on lowering prices, and the idiots believed him. So the idiot MAGAts need to get their faces rubbed in it.
Not nothing, actually.
If the FDA and CDC and other federal agencies responsible for health and food safety are gutted, we could very well end up with semi-permanent higher egg (and other food) prices.
A normal, responsible President has limited ability to dramatically and quickly improve an economic situation, but an incompetent one can certainly dramatically and quickly ruin an economy.
Definitely. I can (probably) drive a bulldozer into a house, but I definitely can’t build a house.
Anyway, op-ed pieces and right-wingers were constantly harping on the price of eggs.
Trump himself said he would bring down egg prices on day one. He wouldn’t shut up about it. If you campaign with that promise, don’t be surprised when people remember him harping on it.
In lighter news:
I recently read (on the internet!) that the main feeling that Germans had about WWII and its aftermath was not shame that Hitler had led the country to commit monstrosities on a global scale, but shame simply that they had ventured all, and lost. It’s not a popular subject there, even now.
It is a common mistake made by the right in this country-that because you can now get away with things you couldn’t get away with before, that automatically transfers those actions from the “wrong” column to the “right” column…morals and ethics be damned.
“We?” The man said so himself with his song/poem “The Snake.”
Sux for them they didn’t listen.
I guess this was somewhat tongue in cheek but I would certainly dispute that.
Shame about WWII is almost a national hobby.
I have more to say on this but I don’t want to hijack the thread. And anyway, if your point is just that cultures can deemphasize atrocities and maybe focus on the wrong lesson then that’s of course true.
When your personal code is all rules and nothing but rules, then it’s real easy to make something in or out; just change the rules.
Colombia didn’t cave, Trump did. Colombia always accepted deportations, they just objected to Trump sending them chained up in a military plane. Which Trump stopped doing.
The obvious bottom line is that it doesn’t matter what really happened. Because there are two “official” scorekeepers out there turning in two very different scoresheets. Depending on where one gets their info, they’ll get one scoresheet or the other.
Welcome to post-reality reality.
Countries HAVE to accept their own citizens one way or another. There are international laws about that - otherwise, you’d have tens of thousands of people in perpetual limbo like the crazy guy who lived in De Gaulle. Colombia just wanted it done correctly, and they got that. Trump caved.
