Eh… you’d be surprised at how easy it is for a government to say “Can you prove you’re a citizen of our country?” and then wash their hands of it (or of you) when you can’t. See, for example, the United States of America.
The surcharge exceeds the entire price per egg, let alone the increase in cost. Does anyone think Waffle House pays $6.00/doz for eggs?

I dunno - where I live now the cheapest eggs, when you can find them, are $6/dozen. Prices on most of 'em range from $7-10/dozen depending on size and a few other details.
One would hope that a restaurant chain specializing in breakfast would be able to get them at wholesale, but in addition to higher prices they might also be having trouble sourcing enough eggs. The surcharge is a way to continue to offer them while reducing some of the demand?

Plus another group of people buying into the whole bullshit that only he can prevent “socialism” from coming here so we have to vote for him.
He’s not going to do any differently than last time around to try and directly and forcibly overthrow Maduro(*), and sure, socialism won’t come here, but he’s going to send you back to it.

From what I heard, containers aren’t able to be unloaded until the tariff is paid. I assume they already have a working system to administer this process, as I can’t imagine this administration being able to implement something like this without causing immediate havoc.

As I pointed out in another thread, the taco truck near my house still has the “temporary” surcharge for carne asada that they imposed in 2020 when covid caused a beef shortage for like two weeks.
