Surprising? No "pro-gun rights" Senators would go on Meet the Press Sunday

I’d like a pony for Christmas.

And the NRA finally speaks:

Sitting at the pub tonight with an old friend and a story about today’s funerals came on. Unprompted he said, “You know, I’ve grown up with guns, had them my whole life. I’m done. Take them all. I’m just sick of it.”

It’s an anecdote and doesn’t equal data, but it’s telling.

Let’s see if he still thinks this 6 months from now.

I think that depends on whether this was an “I’m sick of the bother” which people bounce back from or “I’m sick of the horror” which people don’t as quickly.

Maybe he’ll be like a militant ex-smoker!

Yeah, I’m kind of thinking that way right now, but if another incident happens in the near future, it may tip the scales.

Wow! So you were able to see into the future to see what people would post! That’s pretty impressive. What sort of scornful things did they say?

Poor wording, IMHO.

“help make sure this never happens again”?

Even if they’re serious about compromising, incidents like this will happen again.

Sure, then you’ll just complain that it craps on the carpet.

Back to politics, some papers polled the California congressional delegation about gun control. Story here.. All 32 Democratic House members supported enhanced gun control. Only one of 15 Republican members answered. (He was against it.) They seem to be scared by this issue now, aren’t they?
