9.If you could go back to when you started smoking , would you still have started?
{x} yes
{ } no
Why?
Life in the present doesn’t offer 20/20 hindsight. If I were to relive that time in my life, I don’t think I would feel any different about smokers or smoking than I did the first time around.

  1. Are you still smoking?
    {x} yes
    { } no
    Why?
The benefits that I personally derive from smoking outweigh the costs at this time.

Additional Comments:
I left 7 blank because I have not attempted to quit with the intention of staying nicotine-free in the long (life) run. I think answering it might unfairly skew the results against other people who have found success with one or more of those methods. (I can elaborate if need be; trying to do so now, I’m finding myself blathering.)

{x} no
Why? Because it was eventually time to quit (when I had kids) and it’s very difficult to do, even after a year and a half I still think about cigarettes from time to time. But the only method I’ve found that’s allowed me to make it this long is to 100% commit to cold turkey quitting, without a single slipup in 1.5 years.

  1. Are you still smoking?
    { } yes
    {x} no
Why? I have a son now and while I may have not worried about hurting myself, it was time to start thinking about him and my wife.

9.If you could go back to when you started smoking , would you still have started?
{ } yes
{X} no
Don’t know about this one. I really enjoy smoking…I’m obviously addicted now, but I enjoyed it before I was. Given the addictive nature, however I realize that it is nearly impossible to enjoy cigarettes ocassionally, so I’d say no, only because it takes a huge amount of willpower.

  1. Are you still smoking?
    {X} yes
    { } no
Obviously because I’m addicted, but also I haven’t really had any noticeable health problems. I am also 24, and I realize that if I continue on, then I will notice it very soon. Of course it’s hard to draw that line, isn’t it?

Additional Comments:
I’m not currently upset with my smoking at the moment mainly because I live in a culture where it is much more accepted. This is also, why I am for making it more difficult for smokers to smoke in bars/restaurants, etc. However I do realize the health detriments, and will be forced to quit someday soon. I don’t think that my smoking will cause long-term problems in the long run if I quit soon, but as I said, the real impetus to quit doesn’t occur until you see the serious health effects.
