This season is getting frustrating!
I can’t decide who’s stupider: Marty for handing over the idol, or Sash, Brenda et al for not voting out the guy who handed over the idol.

And what was up with splitting the votes again? What did that accomplish when there was no idol to flush out? I have no idea what these people are trying to do anymore.

The split vote also meant that Jill could possibly have saved herself with one more vote. But as far as we saw, she and Marty made absolutely NO attempt to scramble for that vote. Try to convince Jane that the young alliance will kick her to the curb the first chance they get. Have Marty work his “Chess Grand Master” ruse on Fabio to try to lure him over to their side. Look for (or create) weaknesses in the alliance. *Something. *It might not have worked, but there was nothing to lose. I hate it when players take the “I might get voted out tonight and there’s nothing I can do about it” attitude. For one thing, it’s boring.

Marty’s an idiot, and I hate him for swelling the heads of Sash and Brenda by actually biting their hook. I mean, do an analysis on the offer Sash gave him: If he gives Sash the idol, he’s safe for one more week. But if he doesn’t give him the idol, and USES it last night, he’s STILL safe for one more week. The outcome is identical! Even IF you trust them to keep their word (which, frankly, I was surprised they did), you’re still on the exact same footing either way, so you need to go for the more secure option (which would obviously be “Use the idol”).

This is like the “Big Brother Writers-Strike-Emergency-Cast season” of Survivor.

Definitely Marty for handing over the idol. These morons may not know what they’re doing, but they do have solid numbers, so Marty is toast whatever he does.

No one knew Sash had the idol until Tribal Council (even though the handover seemed to be done in front of everybody), so I think they just stuck with their original plan even though their original plan was kind of pointless at that point.

Also, the idol handover probably happened right before they left for TC, so there wasn’t any time to rejigger their plan.

Why in the world would they have to vote 4 for Marty and 2 for Jill and risk a tie with Jane? They could simply vote 3 for Marty and 3 for Jill. If Marty used his idol, all the votes against him would be discounted, and Jill would have 3 votes against Jane’s 3 and be sent home.

If he didn’t use his idol, then he and Jill would be tied and they just needed to switch their votes to one of them.

What possible incentive would Marty have for giving the HII to Sash? If he played it last night, then they’d release another one.

I liked Jill but I can’t stand how she played the feminine role of standing behind her man. SHE figured out the HII clues in the first place. SHE should have been the one with the power.

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Daniel is useless.

It was three votes for Jill, two votes for Marty and two votes for Jane (Marty and Jill) because there were only seven left last night.

Well, at least that makes sense. Then why were they proposing 4 and 2?

You may be right, which potentially causes Alina, Fabio, Kelly and Jane to realize that they’re not really in the decision-making loop, which could be dangerous for Sash and Brenda.
Then again, I don’t know if anybody in this bunch is smart enough to realize anything at all.

There weren’t. There were only 5 votes available to them - Sash, Brenda, Kelly, Jane, & Fabio. They wanted those five to vote - 3 for Marty, 2 for Jill, and were assuming Marty & Jill would vote for Jane. If Marty didn’t use the idol, he goes home. If he did use the idol, then it’s a tie between Jill and Jane, and everyone who voted Marty in vote 1 would switch to Jill in the second vote, leading to a 4-1 vote against Jill.

Sorry, not Alina; she’s in the other tribe. Point stands, though.

Going back to last weeks thread, everyone was wondering why they didn’t vote out Marty (they voted out Kelly). Well, that plan worked out wonderfully, as they were able to get the HII.

But Marty should have have given Jeff the idol last night. At worst, the producers would have hidden another idol, or he should have known that the merge was imminent. They are halfway through the game.

If I was Marty I would have played the idol assuming they would put another one into play and then try and find that one.

This season is really uninteresting. None of the people make me want to like them. Maybe this is just post-Russell apathy. I hated him, but at least he made me want to watch.

I agree. The only justification for giving the HII away is if he really thinks Sash is going to give it back to him later. I would put the odds of that happening at roughly 0.0000000%.

Marty’s goal at this point has to be to make it to the merge and then regroup. I felt bad for Jill. She had a lot of class, as her exiting comments showed. But I agree she should have kept the HII for herself. She was awesome in the challenges, and never rocked the boat socially.

This. I actually loved to hate Russell. These people don’t seem to be playing the right game. They are playing a post-merge game pre-merge. We’ve seen that before and it never worked out.

spoilers/questions for next weeks ep shown in the ‘next week on…’
Can we talk openly about the merge now?

12 into the merge? Seems like the most I’ve ever seen. There has to be more eliminations before the jury starts forming. Will the youngsters stay together? How many are on the outs who think that it would be better to start gathering oldies to stage an uprising?
Jeff Probst’s blogis up.

Bottom line: can anybody point to a shittier season of Survivor?

I think I am out. This is the worst cast of any season. Nothing left but dopes, douches or crazy people (except Alina I suppose). Alina has a genuine emotional momment and Naonka takes it as a personal insult. That is fucking insane. I also can’t stand Brenda and Nash’s smugness. CBS on my cable went out for ten minutes during the show and I realized I didn’t care.

I will be back for next season and will be reading threads but I am done with this one.

I am also sorry to see Jill leave. Nice player, reminded me of Amelia Earhart somehow.

I can understand Marty’s decision up to a point. We can assume that the other alliance will vote Marty3, Jill 2 then Marty plays HII, then Jill goes. That’s fine. Then the next step- Marty goes home next time. Yes, the math is there, Sash was right.

BUT, where it breaks down is “next time”. Sash conned Marty into assuming that next week their team loses, that their team is again returning to Tribal next week. In that case, Marty has only delayed his going home by a week.

However, their team may win, or there may be (and in fact will be) a merge.

Now yes, by playing it, Marty would still stay, Jill would still go and Marty would still not have a HII. BUT- Sash wouldn’t have a HII.

OTOH, having a HII openly does paint a target, and in fact has caused some dissention. If Marty planned that, then he’s a genius.

I am still worried that Jeff and co is trying to keep the bad guys in. They seem to loooove their Russells and their Nanonka’s. Both of whom are beneath contempt to me, they steal from their team mates. They aren’t real “villians” the real villains are Parvati and maybe Boston Rob- people who play hard and scheme like mad, but don;t stoop to petty pointless theft.

Thailand and Panama (the debut of Cirie notwithstanding) were both pretty shitty.

It cracks me up that even after the tribe switch, Naonka was still wearing Fabio’s socks. She has some giant cajones, you just can’t see them because her big fat mouth is blocking them.

Africa was likely the worst, but to be fair, they were still trying out various things.
